I’m a freshmen and my GPA right now is a
Unweighted GPA 89.741
Weighted GPA 92.02
I want to go to UC Berkeley and I want to know what to bring it at least up to.
Also a website called student tutor says that you should have at least A 3.85 Unweighted GPA (or higher)
A 4.39 Weighted GPA (or higher). How do I convert my GPA? Am I over a 3.85 unweighted and 4.39 weighted?
I’m a bit confused on how this works. Thanks.
First, UC Berkeley and the rest of the UC’s do not include Freshman Grades in their GPA calculation (only 10-11th) so you want to continue working hard to get above a 90 or higher.
There are different % scale conversions to the 4.0 system, it would probably be best to ask your counselor what scale to use. When you apply, you will submit the % grades you have and not covert.
Right now as a Freshman, you want to take challenging courses through your next 3 years at your HS and maintain good grades (UC’s are very GPA focused). Find some interests (EC’s) that you enjoy and be dedicated. Show some leadership, prep for the ACT/SAT tests in Junior year and make sure you fulfill the a-g UC course requirements.
Just remember to enjoy HS and do not focus on one particular school. You can still do everything right (High GPA/Test scores/Interesting EC’s/Awards etc…) and still not get in. Do your best is all you can do.
