Hello everybody,
I am about to be a junior in high school. My GPA is around a 3.4 with all honors and AP’s at a top 10 school in my state. I always thought I could maintain a 3.7+. All my family friends are going to Vanderbilt, Stanford, and Michigan, meanwhile I’m sitting here while my parents are yelling at me that I am not as good as them. The problem is first trimester of freshman year I did decent and I told my parents about those grades, ever since then they have been going way downhill because of depression. I have not been enjoying anything that I used to love to do, and I am feeling sad all the time. My grades have took an effect on this and I have been doing very poorly, I don’t know how I should tell my parents about my grades and I don’t know whether I should tell them about depression. If you have advice, please share.
Thanks
Please discuss your depression with you parents and have them arrange counseling.
Tell them you would like an appointment with your family doctor. You can discuss the depression with him, and your parents.
Please get some help. Depression is a very treatable thing. There is no need for you to,suffer in silence.
Thank you for your advice. My parents are very strict about my grades so once they find out they haven’t been good i will be in a lot of trouble.

Your final grades for last year were done in May or June. It’s August. Are you saying your parents don’t know bout your grades from LAST year?
Like I said…ask to see your doctor. You can discuss the depression with the Doctor…and get an appropriate referral for further diagnosis and possible treatment if in fact you have depression.
Your doctor should want to do a full physical to be sure you don’t have a physiological issue affecting you.
This has NOTHING to do,with your grades, and everything to,do,with your mental, health.
