Need some Advice-- Should I ask for a regrade on essay? Take a look.

Hey so i got a 780 on Writing and honestly I would feel so accomplished if I got an 800 and was wondering if I should ask for a rescore for this essay. It recieved a 9, but if there is any chance for a 10 I would probably ask for a rescore. Well, here it is:

Stress. Pressure. These two words are often looked at in a negative light. Emotions that are often the scapegoats for not performing to the best of one’s ability. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, the pressure and demands applied by others makes people more productive than they would be without such pressures.
Many people have experienced stress and pressure, and for the most part this has allowed them to be more productive. Let’s analyze a hypothetical situation that has most likely occurred multiple times in one’s life. An assignment is due on Friday and the teacher stresses this fact. With constant reminders throughout the week, the students are aware and pressured to do this assignment. Because of this the assignment is completed on time, and the student grows mentally. Now, if the teacher had said nothing except for a quick statement on Monday saying to look at the calendar for upcoming assignments, it seems only logical that many would not do so. Thus, the assignment wouldn’t get done. This pressure applied by the teacher in fact helped the students far more than if this pressure was absent.
Further, expectations are key for allowing people to be productive. From my own life experiences I know this to be true. When signing me up for the SAT last month, my parents made it clear that I should shoot for a 2300+. My initial reaction was: they were crazy; however, this pressure to do well helped me to an enormous degree. I found myself studying more often and harder than ever to achieve this demand. This act by my parents made me more productive, a direct result from a demand by another person. Some may say, however, that I didn’t need this push from my parents as long as I wished to do well. This couldn’t be further from the truth, in fact without this pressure I can grantee I would have studied less, as is the same for countless people taking this very SAT right now. From teachers, to actors, to parents, to businessmen, the importance of pressure placed on others cannot be overlooked. It is seen time after time that people perform better under such conditions.
Pressure and stress are tools for success. Without them, people would not feel the needed sense of urgency required to maximize productivity. And what a better world it would be with everyone performing to the best of their abilities in the most productive way.

Thanks for taking the time to read it = D

I think it received a 9 because of grammar. I do not think a re-grade will change it into a 10.

^thanks for the input. That shouldn’t be too hard to correct next time.

…wait would a -1 MC and a 10 essay even give me an 800? lol because I have no chance at an 11 but at least one grader gave me a 5

First of all, I don’t think you can even get a re-grade.

Even if you could, I wouldn’t ask for it. Your 9 is a 9. I agree with it pretty much. In fact, I would have been the one reader who gave you a 4 if I were an SAT essay reader.

I don’t see any fantastic critical thinking. Your examples are straightforward, so they don’t show much insight. If your examples were more interesting and detailed, then your insight would show. Your conclusion is weak, and it doesn’t really return to the idea of pressure. Your hypothetical example is not described well enough, and your SAT studying example begins to repeat by the end of it. Your examples were lacking in insight and depth, basically. Your writing style is not that fluid, and your vocabulary is unoriginal. Basically, it just felt like a slightly-above-average essay, which translates into a score of 4/6.

olleger, read my thread and essay. I got a 9 also.

Ohhh… no re-grade? Oops that was my bad.

I appreciate your honesty Kean and will work to improve myself (while I was writing this I realized that the examples were terrible, but hey, can’t do anything about it now). I’ll show you my essay in April and hopefully it gets your nod of approval = D.

^ k thanks for the heads up

I didn’t want to sound too harsh. There were good things about your essay too. I just wanted you to know the bad things so that you could work on those. Yeah, listing out all of those bad things in rapid succession sounded really harsh. Sorry about that.

Just know that I want you to improve, and I think that to improve, you should fix the things that I listed out, the biggest things being that your examples were not described too well, your writing style sounds a bit forced, and you don’t show enough insight.

how much of the two pages did you fill? just wondering

^ All exactly lol. Even squeezed in an extra line really small. And Kean dont worry about it. How else do we grow if we don’t hear our faults?
