I'm taking calculus 101b this quarter since I said on my ucd tag that I would be taking it. However on my tag contract calculus 101b isn't required because I'm pre managerial economics major but I will need to take it in order to get into the major. If take math 101b and end up getting an F or W will I get rescinded?

An F will get your acceptance revoked. A W can go either way.

what if i drop right now and have no record, then im okay?

Yes, you can drop now and not be revoked admissions as long as that Calculus class is not for your IGETC or Pre-req for your majors.

I was looking at assist and this is what it says for managerial economics-pre
For entrance to the managerial economics major, students must complete the
following courses with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.80:

Economics 1A,1B;
Statistics 13;
Mathematics 16A and 16B or Mathematics 21A and 21B

It is strongly recommended that students complete this coursework prior to
enrollment at UC Davis. The courses listed above may be completed at UC Davis;
however, completion of these courses prior to enrollment will help to expedite
entrance to the major.

So it seems like I am okay since it says nothing about affecting admission chance?

anyone?
I also talked to a counselor and they said since I put math 101b as planned for spring and if I dont take it my tag will be revoked is that true? However on my tag the only class it said I had to complete was statistics which I finished fall quarter.

umm I didnt take any of the classes that I said I would on my tag. but none of those were pre reqs and I completed IGETC in fall so I’m pretty sure my tag is still valid even though I’m not taking any classes I said I would I’m taking different classes. but the classes I’m taking are similar and te same number of units to the ones I said I would take

well im not too sure if math 16b is even a pre req because for tag only thing I had to complete was statistics.

I think you’re fine. one counselor tried to tell me that you needed to complete IGETC prior to transfer or you’ll get rejected for sure and that is completely false. so unless they are a legit full time counselor, take their advice witha grain of salt

I called admissions and said since I planned on taking it for spring semester I must take it even if its not on tag requirement… getting nervous now… :(

What does this mean found it on uc davis website?

Since submitting my TAG, I expect to have or already have: changed my course schedule, dropped a class, discovered that the courses planned will not be offered at my college or attended another California community college (CCC). Will any of these changes affect my UC Davis TAG? How should I notify UC Davis?

Review your UC Davis TAG Decision Form carefully—the terms of your TAG require that you complete the coursework specified in your contract by the end of spring term. If you do not complete coursework specified by your TAG contract, you will fail to meet your conditions of admission and will jeopardize your admission guarantee.

^^ um I’m freaking out now. I didn’t take any courses I liste on my tag, rather different courses that are in the same area. they are the same number of units and I will still have IGETC completed an 60 transferable units. someone help us ? btw my tag is for ucsc.

What it means, IMHO, is that when they describe it as “a formal agreement” they aren’t kidding. They don’t see it as a list of courses you think you’ll take, they seem to see it as a promise of courses you will take.

You called them and they told you that you must take it since you listed it in your TAG agreement. I don’t see how things can be any clearer than that.

From what’s on the web it looks like different UC campuses may have different requirements for TAG. I suggest you schedule a meeting with the TAG counselor at your school right away to make sure you are ok. Good luck!

but what about the tau? isn’t the point of that to list changes in courses? I don’t see how if I completed IGETC it matters if I take diff courses that I only need to get units. someone else input?

TAG) Program is conditionally approved.

Remember that you must submit the UC undergraduate application no later than November 30, 2011 for
fall 2012. If you make any changes to the course work you originally listed on your TAG application, be
sure to include them on your UC application. In addition, beginning in mid January, you will be required
to update your course information via the online UC Application Update. Changes to your course work
will only be reviewed when our campus evaluates your fall 2012 UC application for
admission.

^^ yeah see I’m fine. I wonder why Davis is different?

@jb did you get that info you posted from your tag response?

You’ll need to update the UCs on ANY schedule changes. The typical answer you get from anyone who answers the phone at the admissions office is “don’t do it.” But the reality is that schedule changes are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If the course is completely irrelevant to your requirements, then dropping it is not going to negatively impact your admission. But since it’s impossible to find anyone on the phone from the admissions office who will give you a firm answer, you are basically doing this completely blind.

@mssun but ucsc’s tag response basically says you can change courses and to update this change in your courses on the uc app and TAU. are you speaking directly to jblightly or are you suggesting I call admissions & inform them as well?

@uchappytrain, that was a general comment. If UCSC specifically says to make changes online and it’s ok, then you are fine.
