Need some thoughts/help. A little worried

Hi there

INTRO:
I’m currently going into my senior year. I’m not going to apply to every single UC, CSU, ect obviously. But the main ones I’m thinking about are UCSB, UCSC, CSUSD, U of Oregon, and Washington State. I really like Cal Poly SLO, too. And UT Arlington, and maybe Dallas. I have a couple safety schools picked out.

I want to get into the health field, maybe nursing. I know that the programs, though, are selective and it’ll be kinda hard. So, not too sure about that. Don’t want to be a doctor.
I do have background in computers/tech etc, but I don’t have a huge amount of knowledge in that field. I can do just a little bit of coding and I’ve practiced some animation. Adobe apps and learned basic concepts.
I’ve thought about accounting/finance/business, as I like money and dealing with numbers.

My mom doesn’t know much about colleges, she’s just concerned with the money/cost part of it. Which is why she’s pushing me to go in-state. Of course money matters, but I’m just looking for a school that will benefit me the greatest. My counselor isn’t the best, and I can never get a meeting with her.

I’m pretty much figuring everything out on my own, at the moment.

MY INFORMATION:
I’m half white, half Japanese. Female.

Parents last year income was around $90,000-100,000.
Only my dad went to college and got a degree. He went to San Jose State. I don’t really care for that school though
I live in the southern Bay Area, in California.

I’m number 9 out of 706 in my class.

GPA:
9th grade: no grade bumps, so that was 3.7
10th: took 2 AP and ended the year with 4.3 (weighted)
11th: 3 AP, 2 honors (so I got 5 grade bumps) finished with 4.6 (weighted)
My UC GPA is 3.94

SAT:

I got a 1250 on the new SAT. I’ve been studying a lot and signed up to take the upcoming one, this month. So I’m hoping for a better score on that.

ACT:

26 on ACT. Taking that again, as well.

AP SCORES:
Euro 4
Bio 2 note: had a really bad teacher, and I was extremely stressed. But ultimately my fault for not studying more/harder
APUSH 3
Psych 3
Eng Lang 4

EXTRACURRICULARS:
Frosh basketball (9)
Varsity Field Hockey (10)
Hospital Volunteer (10-current) I have about 200 hours right now
Pizza restaurant job (11-now) I work in the front of the house; taking orders, cleaning, making basic sandwiches/salads, serving food, helping customers
Special Projects Director of community service club at school (11)
VP of that same community service club at school (12)
Treasurer of Math Club (11-12)
Historian for ASB (12)
Link Crew (10, 12) it’s the club that basically welcomes freshmen into high school; freshman orientation

AWARDS:
Not many. Nothing prestigious. I got the scholar athlete awards in 9th and 10th for keeping honor roll and playing a sport at the same time. I got ‘outstanding performance’ awards in 9th grade in my Spanish and Computer/Tech classes. AP Scholar award through Collegeboard.

MY SENIOR YEAR:
Taking gov/econ and a computer class to fulfill my school’s grad requirements. As for AP, I’m taking Physics 1, Stats, Calc BC, and English Lit.

I’m going to continue to work, volunteer, do ASB and clubs.

LETTERS:
I will be 100% able to get two very strong letters of rec from my teachers. My computer/tech and APUSH teacher loved me. I might be able to get a third from another teacher, but I’m not too sure about how he feels about me. I plan to go talk to him when school starts back up.
I can also get two good letters from community members. My bosses at work like me, along with a woman I work with at the hospital where I volunteer.

MY INTERESTS:
I like being organized, planning/thinking things out ahead of time, and I would say that I’m pretty creative.

I love traveling and taking photos. Also I write a lot of poetry/short stories/essays just for fun.

MAJOR:
I’m still kind of confused with what my major will be. I just don’t know.

But as I said before, I am interested in nursing. My dad recently passed away from cancer, but in the years before that, I would go with him to most of his treatments/surgery. That is partly what caused me to want to get into med. And since I volunteer at the local hospital, I have a good sense of what everything is like at a hospital. But it just might be a little hard to get into a good nursing program, since they’re so selective. And I’m not really into the idea of being a MD.

I’ve also been thinking of getting into the tech field. My dad worked in the tech industry (in the Silicon) for a long time, and that field is filled with good jobs. But, I only have basic knowledge right now, so I’m not sure how I would do as a computer science major.

Something that has to do with numbers and money is also an option.

OVERALL:
Yeah, my AP scores and test scores aren’t that good, so I guess you can say I’m a little scared. I’m still unsure of my major, too, which is bad. It’s app season (!!!) and I’m in need of some help
My essays for apps should be fine, since I actually enjoy writing and can talk a lot.

Any thoughts about my chances, schools, major choice, or just advice in general would be helpful. Thanks

i don;t mean to be rude but, i didn’t read all that… with a 3.94 and 1250 - UCSC, UCR and UCM are your best UC best. UCD, UCI and UCSB could happen but, you’ll need a great application. The offers could happen but, the odds are against you.

CP SLO could go either way but, the rest of the CSUs are highly likely to accept you. CPSLO, SDSU, Sonoma and Chico offer the most residential 4 year experience. The others are largely commuter campuses - that doesn’t mean they are dead - but, they aren’t like Chico or CPSLO where nearly everyone lives on or adjacent campus.

Apply broadly so you are sure to get a seat - 4 UCs and 2-3 CSUs and perhaps a private like LMU or USD.

Good luck.

If you are leaning towards Nursing, only UCI and UCLA have a Nursing school and are ultra competitive so your stats will not get you in unless you consider transferring from a CC.
For the Cal States, only 2 offer direct admit Nursing to Freshman and again highly competitive (CSU Fullerton and San Diego State).
The other Cal states are heavily impacted for Pre-Nursing so you will really need to bump up your test scores for a solid chance.
If you are not set on Nursing, then take @NCalRent’s advice in the above post.
Run the Net price calculators on all schools of interest and have the money talk with your parents.
