<p>LOTS of kids who have lived their entire lives in the US have a first (home) language other than English. Don’t panic about this. If all of your formal education has been in English in the US system, you won’t have to take the TOEFL.</p>
<p>Read the college websites very carefully to find out who must take the TOEFL. There probably will be a statement along the lines of “TOEFL is required of students who have not had at least X years of schooling with English as the medium of instruction.” If you absolutely can’t find it, pick up the phone and call the admissions office.</p>
