So I'll be taking the Rutgers placement test soon and I'm really concerned about it. I didn't score high enough on the verbal sat part so I won't be exempt from the language arts part of the placement test.
So, How hard is the placement test overall? I really would like to go into Calc 1 and Expo English but I'm really concerned about the difficulty.
Is it harder then the SAT? How long are the stories for the placement test?
I'm taking pre-calc this year so would that benefit me in any way for the math portion?
I heard that you are required to take a foreign language test but I haven't taken spanish in 2 years (only took the required 4 years of spanish) so am I screwed for it?

How should I study for the test? Should I even need to study for it?

Some extra questions:
When am I required to pay the admission fee? Is it done online?

I was exempt from English, so I can’t help you with that one; but my friend told me it wasn’t bad.

As for the math part, I didn’t find it too tough. I got my rear-end handed to me in German though. If you’re in SAS, you’ll need to take Spanish.

Is it harder than the SAT? Not really.

In all honesty, don’t even bother studying. You shouldn’t need to study for it, as it simply checks what you already know.

The admission fee is required by May 1st, and yes you can pay it online on the My Rutgers Status page at admissions.rutgers.edu.

You must pay the fee before you can register for a placement test.

As long as you’ve had a good precalc course in high school, you should place into Calc 1.

You really shouldn’t worry: these tests are used for placement. They want you to be in the appropriate level course so you don’t start off on the wrong foot. If you place into a lower level course than you expected, I think that you will still take another ‘quiz’ on the first day of classes to confirm that you have been placed into the correct level course. Some people will be moved up if it is determined that they should be in the higher level course.
