hshahahaha are you guys counting down?! this reminds me of y2k.

anyway, i just finished filling out my CSS profile thing. my mom made me do all the applications and financial aid stuff myself so it took me a while :( anyway, i JUST finished it, and they sent me an email, but i saw my email refresh and i thought it would be from northeastern. i was SO ****ed when it was from the stupid collegeboard. i want to be DONE with them already!

ribosome........i HATE people like you. there are 5 people at my school who applied to NEU, two got in and aren't going and they never sent a letter. sooo ****ed. if i dont get in, i'm never speaking to them again hahaa

I agree, I especially don't like the kids who apply to like 20 schools. You should have a few top schools, and once you have made a decision to what school you wish to attend, you should decline the others, or withdraw pending applications.

Colleges will not admit another student because they expect you to go there. If you have a decision, withdraw the rest.

Xieon - if they withdrew applications by the time they've gotten decisions from other colleges, most likely the bulk of decisions at NU or other institutions have already been made. Colleges know that the enroll rate is a lot lower than the acceptance rate, so they've already adjusted acceptances accordingly. There's no direct relationship between someone withdrawing their application and someone else (borderline, perhaps) getting admitted.

I can relate to both of you except with different schools. It is extremely competitive to get in anywhere! I only applied to a few schools, and all EA.

Liana: True, I really wasn't thinking about the fact that they probably figure in the percent that won't go into their acceptances.

However, I still don't like people who apply to 20 schools lol.

Ribosome: This is some crude math, but with 30,000 applicants, a 12% increase, and a 47% acceptance rate from last year, its about 12,000 that they will admit this year (Once again, very crude math)

sorry, i'm one of those idiots myself. Its just weird thinking that there's thousands of us sitting around hitting 'refresh' over and over again. Colleges have to know how hard this is on people!!! ah well

So out of curiosity (and to pass the time by), let's answer questions! :)

1) When did you submit your application?
2) What colleges did you list in the supplement (where it asked you what other colleges you applied to)?
