Never recieved Form Part II, but they are asking for it

Hello,

I applied to Stanford and they never recieved Form II (with essays and such). Now the deadline was December 15th but they emailed me recently and said I could send it to them by February 19th. This is several months late of course. Are they doing this as in an automated fashion (if so, why so late?), or have they looked at the application and are curious to look at the second part of the form because they have seen what they liked? Thank you for your help,

Regards.

No clue, but you better call them to see what's up.

If they think that it got lost, and it's not your fault that they don't have it, they will probably take another copy of it now. But it will be a good idea to call and find out what happened.

They didn't get it lost; I never sent it (missed the 15th deadline thinking it was for the 1st January) but now they are telling me I can send it now (2 months later). I was wondering if this a random act of kindness on their part or if it suggests they are particularly interested given the information they already have. I will be sending the second part of the application now that I am given the opportunity, of course.

Regards.

I would say random act of kindness. I am not sure whether or not Part 1 is going to (or actually did convey?) your personality to the Adcom. But again, it's weird. They have more than 15,000 applications and they're asking you, who didn't submit Part 2, to submit it.

My suggestion, now that the ball is in your court, is to go ahead and do your best on Part 2, and submit it ASAP.

Good Luck!

well they basically contact people if anything at all is missing. having part 2 missing is no different than having a teacher rec missing, right? they probably just assume it got lost in the mail and are giving you another chance to submit it, just like they would with recs or anything else. like h88 said, part 1 doesn't really tell them much about you.. it was just your name and basic stuff if i recall correctly. well, good luck!

right, it's a fairly routine thing. most colleges check to see if your application is complete before forwarding you to adcom review; if it isn't, they'll give you a chance to submit anything they don't have

call them. just because you missed the dec 15th deadline doesn't mean you're totally dead. besides, if you didn't submit part 2, then what was the bulk of your application?

Hello,
Well they also had my transcript, my mid-term grades, and my recommendations. I was surprised they would treat Part II of the application like the rest of the application since so many people work so hard to get it in on time. In any case, I really wanted to apply so its all well,

Regards.

i submitted my part ii ea app through certified us mail. tracking showed that a member of the admissions office signed off on the delivery and all. a few weeks later, i got a phone call informing me that it was missing.

"hm, well...USPS did say you guys accepted the package..."
"oh don't worry about it. since the rest of your application is in, we'll let you resubmit part ii with no penalty. after all, honor system!"

very hassle-free!

So I assume then that Stanford is sending out their "missing" or "complete" application notices. I have not received one (I applied via the internet) but I would like to know if my recs and second-year report made it.

They e-mailed me recently to tell me that I was missing a teacher rec and had until February 17th to fax it. I haven't received any notification about the rest of my application, so I assume all is well.

Well, I haven't received anything communiques from Stanford regarding my application since submission in November.

I've never received anything from Stanford. (Other than the application, that is. :))
