I agree. With this poster. 10 char

Lol! Still playing something you find a “disappointment”?

Charm? Let’s examine some of the earlier generation Pokemon:

Magnemite is a ball with two magnets on either end, which evolves into (GASP) three magnet-balls. (Direct refutation to the Gear argument).

Diglett. See above.

Voltorb is an exploding Pokeball. Yeah, real charming. Oh, and when he evolves, he turns upside down and grows a bit.

“Blissey, what are you gonna do, attack me with your cuteness?”

Dunsparce. What the what.

Geodude was a rock with arms.

Farfetch’d, Grimer, Muk, Seel, Rattata… I could go on forever.

Those nostalgia goggles are clouding your vision. Gen V isn’t the only generation with bad designs.

Oh, so you admit they are badly designed?

There are bad designs in every generation.

Honestly, I love pokemon too much to care.

@PioneerJones Yeah, I would agree that there are some Pokemon in the previous generation that are weird, but when I see the new pokemon, the art design (as in how the Pokemon was drawn, not what it look like) seems to be completely different than in Generation I-IV. However, maybe after looking at Ken Sugimori’s art of the new Pokemon, I will eventually accept them as Pokemon.

@ACT Tester
Hypocrisy is part of human nature.

To people who thinks that GameFreak is running out of ideas, I believe this is a minor factor though. This may be the real problem: [“The New Pokemon Don’t Look Like Pokemon!” (July 1st, 2010) « Games News « PokéBeach]("The New Pokemon Don't Look Like Pokemon!" -)

Sure, there are some new Pokemon with crap designs (Ice Cream Mon, for instance). What I mean to say is that every gen had Pokemon with terrible designs. Which is why I find it ridiculous that anyone would generalize an entire gen as “better” than another based on the appearance of the Pokemon. People simply tend to prefer the earlier generations out of sheer nostalgia, which I find silly.

Honestly, every time a new generation comes out, these arguments surface: “They don’t even look like Pokemon!” “Gamefreak is running out of ideas!” “The old Pokemon are way better!” And yet, somehow we stop caring after a few months of playing the game. It’s because we love the game.

Haters gonna hate.

^ But, I don’t hate them. The only thing I didn’t like about this generation were there names, which I soon found out were Japanese translations and the fact that some of their base stats are simply ridiculous.

Yeah, the base stats are all over the place. There are so many Pokemon with monstrous attack stats, but have nearly nonexistent speed. I suspect Trick Room is going to increase in popularity.

^ Aakeosu has monstrous Attack, very high Sp. Attack and very high Speed though I bet its Ability “Weak-kneed” will disadvantage it in some way.

^He will be nearly worthless in OU. A Bullet Punch from Scizor would immediately put him below half HP, where Weak Kneed will activate.

What I’m ready to see is Metal Mole with Sandstorm support. Ability that doubles his (88 base) speed in the sand? Do want.

What does Weak Kneed even do?

gives you weak knees

W T F is wrong with you people? You STILL play Pokeman? I stopped playing after I was 7 years old.

I’m disappointed…not only in this new generation (which looks like the creators just assembled random body parts on these Pokemon and splashed colors on them) but also with the serious arguments on this post…

^^ What’s wrong with that?

You’d be surprised how many people still play pokemon

I’ve met 60 yr olds who play pokemon still.

This is the best thread I’ve seen on this entire board.

Also, it would be a great shame to vote for anything but the sword wielding otter. He will be mine.
