New Chances? (deferred March 1st)

I'll make this as short as possible.

Got deferred letter today. Any increase in chances when I send in my Fall semester grades since it shouldn't hurt to try? (All As minus 2 Bs in Physics C and English, which brings up my GPA to a grand mediocre total of 3.49)

Other Info:
High School Courses: All honors and 7 APs
Some ECs throughout
2000 SAT (630 CR, 730 Math, 640 Wrt 12 Essay)
Asian and Out of state (this should kill much hope I'm sure)

UMich is still a top choice, even though I never was optimistic about getting in (wagered a realistic 35-40% on acceptance)

i dont think it is very likely b/c the average HS gpa in UMich is 3.7 i think.

I think that C in English certainly won't help you.

I think he said that he got 2 B's: one in English and one in Physics C. Anyways UM accepts people who gets below 3.7 sometimes so you still got a chance.

I got deferred yesterday. 2080 SAT; 780 Math2; 780 chem; 5's on AP tests; UW GPA 3.6 Wt 4.0. Out of state. What do you think the chances are?

I had the same stats as yours (except a better weighted GPA senior year: 3.7 with mostly AP and honors classes) and i got wait listed last year.

Alright, thanks for those that posted. I, and everyone else deferred will just have to wait and see.

london when was your app complete?

lol mine was finished 1/16 and i got my deferral 2/29

Jchen, remember that Michigan doesn't differentiate between A- and A. Both count as 4.0s. So if you got a few A- and 2 Bs, I'd say your GPA is higher than 3.5, unless you only took 4 academic classes. But I assume that you probably took 5 academic classes, so your Michigan GPA will probably be closer to 3.6. Either way, your chances aren't good, but they aren't bad either. You'll have to be patient and hope for the best.
