New Discussion University of Texas at Austin Class of 2023 Admissions: Out of State

Thought it may be helpful for out of state applicants to have our own thread. It may make it easier to track the admission waves.

Thank you! This will be super helpful. On the website, it says decisions will be released on 2/1. Do you think some decisions will be released earlier?

Our oos daughter was accepted late November. Being out of state doesn’t affect the timing of a decision. . It’s all based on the school you are applying to…she applied by the priority deadline
Because she was applying to an honors program so that resulted in an earlier decision

Thank you. Is your daughter at UT now? Which program did she apply to? My son applied for the Business Honors Program and Plan II.

It appears to be by school. We know of someone who heard late October last year for Communications. OOS. But it does seem like Admissions is holding firm to the Feb notification. Historically, UT seemed to be rolling admissions but that could be changing. That’s one of the reasons I started this thread; to hear if people around the country were getting decisions early. Thanks for any info shared.

I submitted my app on October 31st. When will I get an email for the honors app? Also when you apply through Coalition you don’t have the option for priority it just says December 1st. Are you priority if you submit before the 1st of November?

another poster on the regular ut blog said it doesent matter. if u submit by nov 1 it will be considered as an early applicant-not sure if supporting docs need to be in too though. anyone else know for sure? im not sure they email anymore for honors. u should get an email to get ur UT ID by tuesday and then once u log on to your portal there is a place to apply for honors. hope that helps.

1TakeIncgognito I called the admissions office about this because my ApplyTexas app did not say Priority. They said every application received on or before Nov 1 is automatically Priority. So you’re good. Best of luck!

I called UT admissions as well to see if they would share any info about decision release dates. The rep said they guarantee results by Feb. 1 for priority, but she had no idea if any results will be released earlier. My DS applied to BHP, Plan II and Liberal Arts Honors programs.

Yes she is a junior in BHP

Yes @karen0 she is a junior in bhp

Does anyone know if OOS applications are handled in the same way as auto-admits in regards to a separate notification about your major that comes at a later date? I realize that they do this for auto-admits, because they still have to determine if you are qualified for the major even though you were in the top 6% of your graduating class, but it seems if you were accepted from OOS, that would be a given already. Anyone with any knowledge? Thanks!

Everyone from our school that was accepted last year (OOS) found out what school they were accepted into at the time of their acceptance. The difference among them was when they found out. Also, for honors programs, they didn’t find out until later. I think 3 kids from our school were accepted in December (2 in Education, 1 in Natural Science), the rest in February. Don’t recall if any were ultimately accepted into Honors programs. My daughter that applied to McCombs this year by the priority date, was told not to expect a decision until February.

Son’s portal changed to include a Housing form. I don’t really think it means anything but just wanted to document it.

NEW RELEASE COMING!?!?
UT Austin posted this morning on Twitter:
“We’re so excited to have a new group of Longhorns on the horizon! Tag us in your #GoneToTexas banners to show your Texas pride! Remember to protect your UT EID & other personally identifiable info. #UT23

sorry if you already saw this in the regular thread

Does anyone know if international students get fee waivers?

As an FYI, my son’s application sent early October with honors app completed November 5. No decision yet. He applied to Moody.

Any updates for OOS from anyone?
