New hair style for the senior picture?

I'm going to be a senior this fall and I will take the senior picture for the year book in a few weeks. I usually slick my hair in a conservative style but I want to change to something new (mohawk, I think) just for the picture.

Should I do it? It will be a surprise because my friends think I'm probably the last person going to get a mohawk, but I don't want to regret if it doesn't come up too well.

Oh wow. I don’t plan on taking my senior year pictures until my senior school year starts ( earliest probably October or November, plus trying to recover from a food intolerance). If you want a mohawk for your senior year pictures, maybe you could try it for you school ID. Though speaking of senior year pictures, I’ve never seen anyone ( or at least from what I can remember) with a mohawk, that would be interesting.

(Well ofcourse school ID wouldn’t go in yearbook since your taking senior year pictures, but still could hold for memories.)

Also if it doesn’t come up too well on your school ID, you’ll be a little more okay since your ID and senior year picture are seperate.)

That old adage applies: be yourself. It’s up to you ultimately, but I wouldn’t want to look back in 10 years and have a picture of a person who may as well not have been me. So, just ask yourself if you’ll think it’s funny later in life. Personally, I would like to remember myself as I was. HOWEVER, if you think it’s a good idea don’t let me stop you.

^ I completely agree

A lot of guys at my school just do a stupid face or put their hair in pigtails. I know one guy has the coolest hair ever. Every other day/week, it’s a new color (but that’s how he is naturally). I think you should do what you feel is best, something unique, something memorable in a good way.

I wouldn’t. I wouldn’t want to look back years from now and not see a realistic representation of who I was. Maybe use a mohawk pic for a candid or something?

^^^ Yeah, does your school have spirit week? I mean, I laugh at the guys that did that, but that was their personality (seriously). So I would take a clean cut picture for school, but on a random school day or spirit week, go all out.

I see. Thanks for all your input.

^ Below are some to do’s on the website of the portrait gallery where my S will be taking his Senior pictures.

Avoid trying out new hair styles or getting a fresh haircut just before your appointment.

You should limit your sun exposure prior to your appointment avoiding sunburn and tan lines.

Guys, shave just before your appointment if you want to avoid facial hair in your portrait, it cannot be removed with retouching.

Don’t worry about facial blemishes our basic retouching service will clear them up!

One time hair style sounds like a bad idea.

I’ve a question about the senior pictures – what are you supposed to wear? I know some people dress up and others…wear what they normally wear to school.

Anyway, my thoughts on getting a new hairstyle before the picture – get the haircut like one-two weeks ahead of your appointment-- that way, if you really hate your new hair, you have one-two weeks to figure out a good look with the new 'do :)

At my school we had to wear a tux, except that we actually just wore a pinned on tux bib.

Most people usually dress up, and yeah… you should probably get a hair cut 4 weeks ( or maybe a little closer) before your senior year picture, and if it all turns out well you can get it trim up again a week ( or maybe even a few days) before picture. In case you don’t like the style, probably could find something else to recover it…

Well, for my school, we just can go in our regular clothes, and they’ll provide the tux and stuffs for us.
