New Jersey Scholars Program 2013 NJSP

I saw there wasn't a forum for this year's applicants, and decided to make one. Anyone know how to structure your application in order to be accepted?
Also, any other tips or tricks to get in?

I’m applying too! The other threads about the program were pretty helpful, so you might want to check them out if you haven’t. Good luck on your application!

Good luck guys! I hear the program is awesome so glad Christie didnt cut it.

Thank you! But I’m fairly certain that it wouldn’t be up to Christie to cut it since it’s privately run

i was reading old posts and i saw mention of a word limit. did any of you hear about a word limit, because my guidance counselor never mentioned one?

Yeah, the application says “300 words or one page double spaced” I believe. I went by the one page part, I hope that’s okay! Good luck your application!

okay thank you!!! and you too

on my application that i got from my guidance counselor, which was straight from the NJSP 2013 program, it never mentioned a word limit or page limit so im not going to change mine :p

Hmmm that’s funny. Is says it on the back of the page where you fill in your activities/ jobs/ volunteering in the underlined section under where is says “Essay.” But I don’t think it would be that big of a deal if it was a little over or what not, I would imagine that the content would be most important.

ok thats weird because i didnt get that sheet either. i think my guidance counselor has that and never told us about it. all she told us we had to do was write the four essays, and that was it

That is funny, I would definitely check with your guidance counselor then :)

i did right before break. she just never gave us the sheet explaining the essays or the word limit. so i now have rewrite my essays in a week :(

^ That stinks!
I haven’t started my app yet and its due on Friday. EPP. Im dead.

Does anyone know what the admissions council is looking for in the application?

hamps33 that’s rough:/ does anyone know what the app means by “jobs in/out of school”?

Basically anything you get paid for:
in school: tutoring for ex.
out of school: working at an ice cream shop

thank you!

Just sent mine in today. Good luck to everyone!

Good luck to everyone as well! For the activities section of the application, do the columns “team position” and
“office held” require descriptions?

I guess this is a little late now, but I just wrote what the position or office was (like “vice president” or " varsity third singles." And good luck to everyone too!

Hey does anyone know when we will find out what they think? And who got into the semifinals?
