New SAT/Old SAT Question

I got a 1600 on the old SAT with an 800 in writing. Some schools though, require the New SAT. If I take it but don't get a perfect score, would they just be like [hypothetical scores here] 780 Crit Reading, 790 Math, and 750 Writing. Or, would they use the writing score I got on the SAT II Subject test? Thanks for clearing up this question.

I had a 1550 and 800 Writing and I retook. My composite score went down by 60 points though :( I think if your scores are that good and you're not applying to any UCs, you should just stick with it. I emailed almost all of the top 25s and they said they will accept it like that, and if your scores are that high I doubt adcoms will be like "sooo he didn't take the New SAT cuz he was scared of it?"

If they require it, take it. If they don't, you'd be crazy to take the New SAT.

and one more thing, the difference between a 1600/800 & a 2320 is so minimal that it would hardly affect your chances.

but don't retake unless your required.

K. I'm so happy with my SAT record now.

I am going to apply to the UCs. Well, only Berk and UCLA. I have a 1600/800x5 right now. But, will I have to retake for Berk?

Yes, you will. Do this: send score reports to all of your colleges right now, and they'll keep it on file for you until you apply. Then, take the New SAT and if you don't score as well as you'd like to, don't notify the colleges except Berk. Good plan, too bad I heard about it too late lol. Also, you can take the ACT. Another rickoid is doing that (I think you know him, Arpesh?).

Yeah I know him. Haha, this plan is ultra sweet. Are you also sending your AP grade report? That costs a ton to send to all the schools though. Those mofos.

Just a tip how I circumvented the New SAT for colleges that require it (though I ended taking it in the end cuz National Merit needed it). I also got a 1600 on the old SAT and didn't want to potentially get a lower score on the new SAT. So, I took the ACT w/ writing, which I think is easier than the SAT and got a 36 on it. So, anyone in the same predicament, just take a different test because a 1600 followed by a 34 can be justified because they are different tests and cannot be compared precisely. A 1600 followed by a 1550 looks worse because it's the same test. However, you must keep in mind that colleges will NOT mind a 1550 because it is still a GREAT score.

1600 = beast

enough said.

yeah id take the ACT
