The new SAT scores came out today, and I really regret not taking it. I took my first SAT last June and got an 1810 ( 690W 540CR 580M). After studying and taking the last Old SAT in January and studying a lot for it I got a 2020 ( 650CR 660 710W) which I was content with, but now I am regretting my decision. Lots of people at my school got a higher comparative score on their New SAT than the old SAT ( for example if someone got a 1500 on the old SAT out of 2400 but a 1250 out of 1600 on the new SAT which is the equivalent of a 1880 on the old SAT) and alot of these people didn’t even prep. Should I just take the new SAT no prep? Did you guys see this around your school?

@Eagless62 From what I understand, there is alot of score inflation.
I’m seeing this at my school as well. People who could never top 1900 on the old test made between 1350 and 1400 on this new one. I hope colleges factor in this difference when selecting students because I don’t want my old SAT scores to become worthless from an easier test.
Look at the concordance tables the college board released. They will show you what that new 1250 really equals when compared to the old SAT. The colleges will be using the concordance tables to convert the scores from the old SAT to equal the new SAT format. You can download the college board app. Just look for SAT score Convertor. or look for the concordance tables on the college board website.
A 1350 on the new test = 1900 on the old @neoking
But the scores seem really inflated… my 2020 would be a 1420. Compare that to a 1350. It looks similar but the point conversion to the old sat is pretty significant. 2020 vs 1900. How can colleges even tell?
The Washington Post just came out with this article on the topic of inflated scores: “Why Your New SAT Score is Not as Strong as You Think It is”:
They definitely appear better for kids who didn’t do well on the essay since that is removed from the score. I think the new score is more comparable to the old CR/M score than it is to the old total score.
It probably penalizes kids who did well on the essay.
