Do most students stay on campus during the New Student Conference? What about parents?

No. I think the majority get hotel rooms (this data is based on nothing but my casual conversations during ours).

be sure to get hotel room with your parents…very hectic time and your will need a place to stay.

try La Quinta right on university and texas…if nothing available around campus go down hwy a bit…some new hotels out there although you will fight traffic to campus…best to try around campus for walking and bus usage.

Btw…always try to book that La Quinta for any special events your parents want to attend …easy walking or transport to Kyle Field for games and also to campus transport for on campus events…ring ceremony…parents weekend etc.

You do have an option to stay in the dorm. Although it is cheap and sounds pretty cool, I would avoid it. It is just that…a dorm room. There is no TV, no decorations, no anything plus the dorm beds are not comfortable. My child lives in the dorm and loves it but has a 4" mattress pad on top of the dorm mattress to make it comfortable. Plus, it will be really nice to be in a hotel room with your parents. You can discuss all the information from the day and rest in a comfortable bed for the night. It is really hot on some NSC days and you do a lot of walking. I would go for comfort at a hotel and skip the dorm.
