New Student/Family Orientation

I am going to be a freshman at UCLA in the fall and signed up for new student orientation several weeks ago. I also saw there was an option for my parents to also attend an orientation that lines up with the last day of my orientation session. My parents are not sure if it would be of any use for them to go and get information because they assume that UCLA would tell me all I need to know during the students-only orientation.

Does anyone have any experience with the family orientation? Was it of any value? Or was it just more of a way for the school to take the parents and family members on a tour of the school?

Any help or input would be greatly appreciated!

I don’t think the family orientation will be particularly valuable for you. I think it’s more of a way for the school to take the parents and family members on a tour of the school. I don’t know anybody who had their family go to orientation. Everything you need to know will be presented in your student orientation. I think the family one is just to show them around and let them see what life will be like for you for the next four years, especially for those parents who want to be with their kids for those three days. It’s probably for the more concerned parents.
