check this [UCLA New Student & Transition Programs - Family Orientation](http://www.newstudents.ucla.edu/familyo.htm)

Family Orientation is a one-day session designed to meet the basic concerns of family members who are new to the UCLA community. The program will focus on answering your questions about the University and discussing your role as a support for the new university student.

The day will include: an Opening Address, a presentation on UCLA‘s academic degree requirements, an information fair and workshops, an introduction to the services and educational opportunities available at UCLA, a discussion on student transitional experiences, lectures and discussions with University staff and faculty, and a campus tour and tour of a residence hall facility.

The activities will be led by student counselors.

The Family Orientation session activities are held separately of the student session and coincide with the last day of the three-day First Year session. Family Orientation begins at 7:30am and will end approximately at 5:30 pm (the same time your student will be ending their respective orientation session).

based on what I read, you should sign up student orientation if you are a student.
family orientation is for a family member to sign up [UCLA Orientation](http://cis.ucla.edu/Family/default.asp)
