New Transfers for Spring 2013

Hi, I am transferring to Tech for the Spring 2013 Semester and really excited, but I do have a few questions for my fellow transfers or perhaps current students:

How are you financing your education? I know that this is quite a broad and general question but bear with me. I'm asking because I've noticed that there are not many scholarships within the school it seems. I apparently qualified for a transfer scholarship, and I do appreciate it greatly, of course, but it's not much. So, are there other scholarships within the departments? If so, must I wait until I complete my initial 12 hours at Tech? Is there any other way or are external scholarships a big thing at Tech? I studied two years at A&M and there were many scholarships, though there were mostly from alumnus. Definitely not trying to compare between the two, but Tech is a pretty big university too.

How does one pursue a double major at Tech? Currently, I am admitted as a BS in Economics, but I really would like to double major with a BBA in Finance. I know that the business school probably fill up quickly so I messaged the administrators asking if I can change my major to Pre-Business (must finish business core classes before going in actual major) and figured requesting a double major would be probably easier if it is within the College of Arts & Sciences. But what is the next thing? Must I wait for a semester?

Something more to home. Why did you all pick Tech? If a current student, what can I and other transfer students expect? Any pointers? Do's and dont's?

I know that I am asking for a lot of information but I guess I am a tad bit anxious, you know? I know it's a lot to ask but I would really appreciate it if someone could answer my questions, fully or partly. All feedback would welcomed. Thanks a lot in advance!

We really need more people in this forum… I applied to Texas tech cause they said I might be eligible for a transfer scholarship. I applied for PE and still waiting for a decision, but if I get no scholarships I would not attend. As for your questions, no idea…

There’s that. Transferring with 60+ Credits with 3.5+ GPA receive $6500 per year up to 2 years.

Or $4,500 for 30+ Credits with 3.0 GPA per year up to 2 years.

Think this link is better… [Institutional Competitive Scholarships](http://www.scholarships.ttu.edu/InstitutionalScholarship.aspx)

Sounds decent. Not even including Financial Aid.

Thanks Green Tea. I’ve seen these numbers before. I am hoping, though, there are more.

Look behind you. I couldn’t agree more.
