I wonder if The Academy is going to start issuing the new navy all season uniforms? It would be interesting to see if we get issued the blue cammies. Soon to be standard navy issue starting fall 2007.

Got a pic? (Zaphod asks, dreading the reply...)

I don't mind the blue cammies...I really don't like the new E-1 to E-6 uniforms...the ones that are modeled to look more like the Marine Service Charlie uniform....it reeks of politicians trying to make everyone 'equal'.

There's a pic of both, the new cammies and the khaki. The khaki is only for E-1 to E-6, but the cammies are everyone E-1 to O-10.

Tomorrow's sailor is going to look a lot like today's Marine.

Oh, dear...... THAT'S not going to fly well....

Rather than the desert tan or woodland colors of those services, however, the Navy uniform will be blue and gray, the colors of the sea and ships, Carroll said.

Just don't fall overboard....

E-1 to E-6 wearing khaki. I don't imagine many CPOs are going to like that. Making E-7 and putting on the khaki is a big deal.

I agree.

I know a LTC who is the CO of the AROTC unit at the Univ. of Houston and surrounding units. He told me that the Army is really becoming more and more PC. He said they don't wear rank insignia in the BDUs, or something along those lines. I wasn't real clear, but they were making changes so that 'If you're a 10 year SSgt. with combat time, or a SSgt. who's been pushing pencils...your uniforms won't look too different."

what uniform will the blue cammies be replacing???

that Army new ACUs that you were talking about, they take the rank off of their uniform and all of the rifleman badges and such when in a combat area or during training. Rank and badges are attached by velcro. Personally I like the old BDUs much better.

Do you mean you like the old patter better, or just the old BDU in general?

I really like the digitized camo. It does a lot better job of breaking up one's silhouette, especially in densly forrested areas.

Blue cammie's will replace almost everything except dress uniforms. Granted that is when you are stationed at a command that uses the blue cammies. They have not really set any precendence as to who will wear them and who will not. However I do believe that any sea going command will use them as a regular work uniform.

fergson/DMeix,

If I recall correctly, the CNO (from what he told the Brigade) has only approved the new "working" uniform. The other uniforms ("service") are only suggestions and it is up to him to make a final decision.

Secondly, Mids WILL NOT be getting these uniforms as of now. That will be the day when USNA finally gets rid of Working Blues! It is going to take a long time to integrate the new working uniform in the fleet and USNA is not going to start issuing it to just one class, it would have to be everyone.

Yuck... I like the old ones better, but I suppose these are more practical. Haha, I'm such a girl.
