New "Worst Buy" Scam...

Since some of you are probably thinking about buying computers for the coming fall semester, I thought you should be warned. A friend's D just called from Worst Buy and besides the usual service contract scam, they have come up with a new one that's most interesting.

For a mere $129 they'll have one of their "expert" technicians in the white shirt take off all the trial software from your "new" computer! I told my friend that I'd do it for a 6-pack.

I know, I know..."Friends don't let friends buy from Worst Buy," but the price there was better than anywhere else, including factoring the sales tax vs shipping from an on-line store.

I can't believe that they've now stooped so low... They embellished the pitch with BS about "improved performance, etc." Playing on a computer phobic public's fears is just pitiful!

Zep- Are the guys in the white shirts associated with "Worst Buy" also known as the "Tweek Squad"? The ones in the those little German cars formerly associated with hippies and other 60's liberal types?

There have been many "Tweek Squad" horror stories as well...

Yes, you are correct...

Another way to name "Those Who Must Not Be Named" is "Nerd Herd"

Well, "Worst Buy" is not the only company that offers "expert" service for computer newbies... I'd like to do those services myself if someone is willing to pay, hmm, say 1/4 of the prices asked by those "experts". Is it not a deal? Is anyone here interested? ;)
