New York University Early Decision for Fall 2023 Admission

FWIW I got in and never had any bookmarks. Still don’t! Congrats all.

Is there a way to check how many from ED1 got accepted to fill what percentage of the class? My D is considering applying ED2 to NYU, but undecided so far.

My daughter found out she was waitlisted. The information on the NYU site doesn’t provide stats on how many / if it’s realistic to get off the waitlist and says it will notify us by August 1. Does anyone have any other information or experiences with the waitlist? Thank you!

Same, which school

My son applied ED to a LAC school in the NE, and was denied. He is a NMSF, 1550 SAT, WGPA 5.45. 6AP’s, great EC’s, and now wants to apply ED2 to NYU. Does he have a good chance of getting in? Also, is NYU a needs based school? Are there any merit scholarships? No way we can afford NYU without a lot of financial aid.

Very little merit - they do meet need but run the NPC as need is different school by school.

Obviously it’s a very different environment than an LAC.

Thank you!

I would say it depends on which school he applies for. For Stern it might be a stretch with 6 APs unless he has a lot of interesting ECs. Don’t count on merit scholarship, it is very restricted…

He does want Stern. He’s taking 4 AP’s this year. All of his electives were honors pre-med classes which prevented him from taking other AP’s. So, is ED2 still a better chance than RD? We will run the NPC. Thanks!

Of course it will be.

Gallatin school…what about yours?

You might want to confirm from the admissions office, but i believe that if an applicant is denied ad ission, they cannot apply for the same admission cycle whether ED2 or RD.

If I read the note properly, it wasn’t NYU that turned them down but a LAC school in New England.

So this would be the first app to NYU - or at least as I am reading the chain.

i got accepted to stern ed1 with very similar stats! 1550, 6 aps as well, and very good ecs (research internship, lots of volunteer work, building my own business, finance). I also had very good recommendations

R_M2, congrats to you! Is Liberal Studies your first choice school?

Yes, that is correct. This will be a first app to NYU.

Congratulations!! All the best to you!!

Does any have any info about the Lewis Rudin City Scholarship (other than the short summary on the NYU website)? How many students get it? Is there an essay or application? When do they notify about it? Thanks!

We applied on December 26th RD, and have not received an acknowledgement yet, or portal information. Common App confirmed, payment confirmed, but noting from NYU yet. Their office seems closed for the holidays. Should I be worried? The deadline is January 5th.

No - because if they’ve been closed, they couldn’t react.

Once they log your app, they’ll respond.

If on the 4th they haven’t responded, then call.
