Newhouse Admissions?

Is their a separate application required for Newhouse?

In the SU prospectus, they mention how many students do "dual enrollment"- they complete a double major- one in Newhouse and one in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Any info would be appreciated! :)

Nope, no separate application. Newhouse kids are expected to take up a second major or a minor, and it does have to be in a different school. Basically they just want you to have something to write about. I say it could be something to contribute to your journalism career (currently considering marketing- I'd like to run a magazine, so marketing could help. Get it?).
Wow, it's fun being on the info giving end of this CC thing. Anything else?

Haha. Yeah, I'm not often on the info- giving end, either.

Out of curiosity, if you're from Florida, what factors made you decide on SU? (Or are you still not sure you'll be going there yet?)

Well considering I have a plane ticket to NY for next Monday...I think I'll definitely go to SU. I decided on Newhouse because, of the schools to which I applied and was accepted, it was the best combination of student life and academics. Newhouse is tops for journalism (considered top three w/ Medill at Northwestern and "the J-School" at Mizzou), and I've been settled on that field for over three years now. I wanted to leave Fl for college as soon as I realized I could (I was probably about 5 y.o.). See other posts for further explanation- my personal info is all over this site.

Well, this prolly has nothing to do with your question, but i'm 100% in agreement about leaving fl for college. I CANT WAIT TO BE COLD, yay.

lol, Yargg! I actually moved to Charlotte from Pennsylvania almost exactly a year ago. It's lovely here.... but I kinda miss seeing some snow every once in a while... :(

I moved from NYC to florida when I was like 1... i don't really remember the snow there, but i swear its in my genes.

Did you visit Mizzou? What did you think? I was very impressed with Newhouse, but it's the only communications school I've seen. I'm pretty sure the facilities don't get much better than it, but I was curious what other top-ranking journalism schools had to offer.

The problem with Syracuse is that the campus is really depressing...and the problem with Mizzou is that it's in the Bible Belt...decisions decisions. Hah.

The other problem with Mizzou is that if you decide that you don't want to be a journalist, you're pretty much out of luck. The J-school is really the only academically sound part of Mizzou. I didn't visit, I'm not an authority, but it didn't get my attention the way SU did.
