Please post of you have heard anything from any of the UT honors program decisions. Son applied to three today and will be anxiously waiting for notification.

It will be a while. I don’t think S heard until after the first of the year, but I will 2x check.

I would suspect they’re starting to do interviews about now since I was emailed yesterday morning about an interview. I applied BHP, and I think full decisions regarding Honors Programs if your son applied by the Priority Deadline (October 15th) will be the middle of December.

Thank you, that’s very helpful! My son applied to LAH, Plan II, and Dean’s Scholars. Dean’s Scholar’s is unlikely because he put Biology as his second choice. He put Environmental Science (Geography Track) as his first choice which is under liberal arts. He submitted the honors application Oct. 13. Best of luck to you for BHP!

Plan II early acceptances come out the week of Thanksgiving.

Mine applied engineering and business honors. But won’t they have to decide on a major before the honors decisions? First choice major was engineering, second choice business. He got his auto acceptance notice back in September, the day after he applied. But he hasn’t heard from either major yet.

Engineering admits to a specific major. These admissions are given early on.

Engineering honors comes out much later most likely because they send the letters after they have decided on scholarship allocations. in 2012 cycle, these came out sometime in late February or early March.

I think BHP works differently since they also do interviews?

Do you know how early is early? He applied to mechanical engineering, and even though I know it isn’t auto, I am pretty sure he should get it. He is ranked 1/700ish at a Texas public school, 14 AP classes, 5s on all AP exams taken so far, 2230 SAT one sitting (710 math, 800 CR, 720 writing), NM Commended, four year varsity athlete, multiple honors societies including leadership, strong essays, solid community service record since middle school. He took SAT IIs in October, so he doesn’t have that score yet, but those aren’t required.

I believe engineering people don’t send you an admission but just update online. I remember 2 years ago it took about 4-5 weeks from the date of filing. Your kid should get into engineering and even honors. How much money is what I am not sure about. Make sure you submit SAT IIs. They may make a difference in the money.

Anyone have news to share?

I got an acceptance letter today for admission into Liberal Arts Honors.

Good job! Congrats!

Do you mind posting your stats? And had you already been admitted to your major?

Collegefind:

I put “undeclared” as my major. My SAT is 2240, GPA 4.67, and ranking 19/141. I’m in honors classes and will have ten AP credits by the time I graduate.

D was accepted today to LAH. 34 ACT, 3.88 Unweighted GPA , 4.65 Weighted GPA, top public high school (in Illinois, ranked top 20 in the nation) which does not rank its students. Still waiting to hear from Plan II. I’m assuming that the LAH program issues its acceptances and works independently from the Plan II people and that acceptance to LAH does not mean that she will not be accepted to Plan II. Can anyone confirm this? Thanks.

Congrats to your daughter! Plan II and LAH are two different programs and each have their own review process, so you are correct that your daughter could still get into Plan II. Plan II sent their first batch out this week and these were received today. However, they will send two more batches out before the process is over, so she may still hear from Plan II yet.

D (OOS) accepted into LAH - letter postmarked 11/25 (UT’s acceptance was 11/18). By the way D’s acceptance letter came in a small envelope. Waiting for Plan II.

Congrats, that is great news!

Kind of wish BHP would send some letters home! Only have gotten a phone call and email. Has anyone received their acceptance packet yet?

D accepted into Plan II today - letter postmarked 11/26 - we live in Houston. Received acceptance to McCombs on last week. She’s non auto admit so is very pleased! fingers crossed for everyone!
