how was your UCLA visit btw?

I drove up to the LA area from San Diego with a couple friends yesterday because one of my friends needed to go to Cal State Long Beach for an orientation for her transfer next year, and after that we headed up to UCLA. It just so happened to be the Festival of Books, which, incase any of you haven’t gone, is incredible! Being on campus just pushes you to work harder. (wow, that was corny- but it’s true!)

The Bruin Statue is WAY bigger than I thought it was going to be. I was like “Holy s**t.”

I hope I get the same feeling when i visit Berkeley. Has anyone been to both campuses?

@ theregoesevan

I know exactly how you feel. I live 20 minutes from UCLA and whenever i go there and see how amazing the campus is and how the on campus life just seems amazing it always makes me work harder in school. Berkeley is a really nice campus too, but its a different environment ( a lot of homeless people lol) i’m still unsure which one i would rather go to if i get in for fall 2010

I’ve been to both, but Berkeley only once and UCLA loads of times. I liked the feel of Berkeley’s campus better, though. It’s a lot more urbanized and the feel is more fast-paced. UCLA and Westwood have a laid back feel.

one of my best friends just said that (if) and when I submit my SIR for UCLA (fingers crossed that i’ll get to do that) we’re gonna drive up to LA for dinner and to get me a sweater! :D

If I get in I’m buying dinner in Westwood for all my UCLA friends who’ve supported me (emotionally as well as physically with food swipes).

I owe them so much haha.

So, 2010, who is jealous of the 09’ers? this is going to be a looooong year.

Congrats to everyone who got in today!
That’ll be us this time next year ;)

i’ve been hanging out in their decision threads like i’m one of them, haha… ugh, feels like too long.

Gametheory- me too VV (face of shame)

I should be doing homework to get into UCLA/Berk but instead im seeing who got in here. Damn!

well… to my defense, I was anxious to see if a friend got in.

what are you applying as for LA/Berk?

Erm, me too! looks around, anxiously

I was actually trying to get a feel for admits stats and what not.

I am applying to UCLA for Anthropology with an alternate (TAP) of Linguistics and Anthropology (most likely )

And Berkeley, I am applying for Anthropology as well.

What about you?

cool cool…

nothing special here… biz econ for UCLA and Haas at Cal. I would do TAP, but can’t with all the extra classes I have to take for Haas…

Oh, I can’t even imagine. How are your grades looking as of now?
Did you join the Facebook group for this thread?

You 09 people are lucky this is the second year I’ve seen decision threads. One year from today guys.

all good so far with 4.0. you? i personally can’t wait to take calc this fall!

haven’t joined the fb group yet. could you post the link?

I have a 3.7, but I also have a less competitive major. Significantly less competitive. I have killer EC’s though. Hopefully that’ll be taken into account.

don’t sweat it… i saw plenty of 3.2s get in this year for anthro. are you doing the B.A. or B.S.?

B.A. fo sho.

Assist.org, 3 Pre-reqs for UCLA/Berk and only 2 for UCSD!

Ugh I just head that UCLA didn’t even consider anyone for Communicaion with a GPA under 3.90 Thats crazy!!

i’m pretty sure i saw a few comm acceptances that were below 3.9 this year… but yeah, comm seems so impacted that TAP doesn’t even apply to comm majors.
