Mine starts August 24th. Semester system.

Lol never tried those vending machines in the cafeteria. Are they making a new parking structure? Or is that parking lot area in front of the arts dept. something else?

Aren’t all CCs semester system? Don’t know of one that’s quarter, though SMC’s ‘semester’ system is kind of weird.

Man you guys should see the schedule I’m taking next year just to try to transfer to UCLA for computer science…it’s frickin’ insane. I’m talking a prereq for every single class. ALL hard computer science, hard science, or hard math courses. You better let me in UCLA!!

^I would be doing that except one of the pre-reqs I need isn’t offered, and for the rest of them I need to take calc 1 to take them. So i’m taking calculus and 3 classes to finish IGETC, I figure since I can’t get much done in terms of pre-reqs might as well get my GE done.

Hahah, good luck arcade. I’m taking easy classes to boost my GPA. (Just sayin.)

Can’t wait for the semester to be over. I’ve already got… sophomoritis :P

Wow that was a lame excuse of a joke. Hahhhaha.

This thread is so far back in the pages. What’s up everyone? Gearing up for Fall (last fall at a CCC!)

I’m basically in the same boat. Two weeks left until Fall semester starts and I’ve had one week off since Summer school ended. I think I’m going to try to spend some time on my personal statements in these two weeks.

Gah! I haven’t even thought of those. I should do that.

I start school in a week(aug17), but yeah 2 weeks off since summer school ended. I tried to start my personal statements, but had a hard time. Anyways I’m enjoying my 2 weeks had my wisdom teeth taken out and just spending time with the gf.

Is anyone getting an AA/AS from their CCC?

I don’t think I am. I haven’t even looked into the requirements of getting one. I don’t think it will do anything.

I am going to try to get my AA. I think I have all the requirements…or close to it. I am still in summer school!!! Ahhhh…sucks to be me. I have one more week…and then my math final. I am a little scared. Have I said I hate math? I think I want a tattoo that says “I hate math” on my left butt cheek.

As soon as I am done with my math class, I plan to write my personal statements. I think I could bang them out in about 4 days.
I have been thinking about them a lot so…I have some good ideas in my head.

^What math are you taking?

I have to take this one health test at my CCC or take a health class and I can grab a AS in math & science and an AA in arts and humanities. I know there not worth anyways, but getting two degrees is kinda cool.

I’m also surprised nobody has started a Fall 2010 chance me thread as it starts earlier and earlier every year.

Anyone know if we can send a separate Personal statement to a particular UC apart from the general one that is looked at by all the UCs? My reason for transferring to a particular UC does not apply to the rest of the UCs (being close to family) and that UC is my first choice.

People asked that this year as well, no you can’t. Also I would prob advise against writing an essay about being close to family, they care far more about why you want to study there not live in the area.

Incase anyone didn’t know what the two prompts were, here they are:

Prompt #1 (transfer applicants)
What is your intended major? Discuss how your interest in the subject developed and describe any experience you have had in the field — such as volunteer work, internships and employment, participation in student organizations and activities — and what you have gained from your involvement.

Prompt #2 (all applicants)
Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are?

^ Anyone start yet?

I have about 700 words done. Problem is they are all on the first essay so I have to spend some time shaving it down. 1,000 isn’t enough.

I started an outline today, but plan to spend more time on it during the following weeks.
