Anyone know when we can start our applications?

Oct 1 when applications come out.

k cool thnx… and do we have to fill out an application for every school we’re applying to? Or is it one whole application and we check off which schools we want to apply to? Sorry if this is a dumb question…

There is one application for all the UCs and yeah, you pretty much choose which colleges you’ll be applying to.

the app comesout october 1st, but you cant turn it in until november 1-30 right?

is anyone doing anything nutts and just gonna turn it in right away? i can imagine MAJOR anxiety during those weeks…oh how thanksgiving will be lol

I’d like to have my application ready to be submitted on November 1st, but I probably won’t turn it in 'till a couple days after.

Do you have a higher chance of hearing back sooner from schools the earlier you turn it in?! :D

i don’t see how you’d possibly be able to bring yourself to turn it in any earlier than 3 or 4 days before the deadline…

i looked at my app almost daily, even after… no, especially after it’d been turned in. guaranteed, you’ll find some change you would have liked to make.

and, no, you don’t hear back sooner for turning it in sooner.

Pink I understand what you are saying, because of course diligence in the application process is necessary. However, if I’ve spent all of October preparing, editing, and finalizing my application, and I feel comfortable with it, I see no reason why I shouldn’t turn it in as soon as possible. It allows me to relieve myself of the anxiety and focus my attention on getting A’s in my classes to maintain my GPA for evaluation.

With all that said, I’ll probably end up procrastinating and not send it in until after Thanksgiving break. :)

that’s what you think…

Well at least a portion of the anxiety.

debate aside,

SMC people, why the f**k is Schultz teaching community college?
I mean…I don’t mind but she seems university caliber from our first class today.

I had a Political Science course during the Summer with a professor who previously taught at Berkeley and Davis. He had a law degree and was definitely into his whole “academic responsibility.” He was intense, and he expected a lot of his students. Ultimately, although difficult, I believe the course was a good warm-up for university level work and am very glad I did not withdraw.

It didn’t hurt that he curved everything we did. Class averages were 53, 55, and 60 on our tests, and that was including the bonus 10 points he gave for “following the directions correctly.” I studied my ass off as if I was competing versus Cal students. It was good practice.

2nd week of 16

Just let it be 2010 already :<

Mikey, I hear that.

Loud and clear.

Also, does anyone know how many P.E. Units can count towards a transfer? I took a bunch of tennis classes when I played last fall, I think I heard 4 or 5. Can anyone verify this?

I think I read somewhere that it was 4. Maybe it was 4 per particular pe class. I’m not sure don’t quote me on this. Damn, I couldn’t imagine taking 5 units of pe. You just don’t get the same unit per time spent with pe classes.

Maximum of 4

@erikuh, I remember thinking the EXACT same thing when I took that class. She did teach at UCLA though, but if I do remember correctly, she likes cc better. But unlike UChopeful’s teacher, Schultz class is super chill, super easy, SO laid-back. You’ll learn so much, too. I’m excited for you! Hahaha.

Gracias! :D

edelynly - Maybe teaching CC is more fulfilling for her?

My English teacher is not my style though. First day she made us turn to our neighbor and introduce them and their hobbies in front of the class. We get assignments everyday which consist of reading 1-2 short stories then turning in typed assignments on ~10 comprehension questions.
Pretty high school-ish :[

My english teacher was pretty much awesome. She has been my favorite so far…in community college.
