NHRP Score Cutoff?

I am searching online for recent years’ score cutoffs for the National Hispanic Recognition Program, but I can’t seem to find any solid scores. Would my 196 be enough to qualify? I live in California by the way.

@Bulldog97‌ Hi, I am a National Hispanic Scholar and I’m not sure about California, because I am from New York, but the cutoff here was 184 and New York has one of the densest populations of Hispanics in the country so in all honesty I think it is safe to say you qualified. Also I know a ton about the scholarships certain schools offer for being a National Hispanic Scholar so if you have any more questions feel free to ask.

@LI516IT‌
I have seen that quite a few prestigiuous schools offer small 2k scholarships, but are there any of these that offer a bit more? I know schools like Auburn give out scholarship money ‘like candy’, but I would like to go to schools a bit more highly ranked in business.

I think you’re mixing up the scholarship offers from Auburn with Alabama - and Alabama has a better business school anyway. Need an Irish-American cutoff - maybe my kid would get more money.

@threeofthree‌
I just checked and they both have full OOS tuition scholarships, but I believe the Bama one is tied to SAT and GPA.

Amen, @threeofthree! Methinks that an Irish-American cutoff is indeed in order!

@threeofthree‌ haha if that ever happened I might be able to double up I’m half Irish American half Hispanic

@Bulldog97‌ Auburn and Alabama do not offer scholarships for NHRP scholars anymore I applied to Alabama because I had heard that they did but they ended it a few years ago and while they still offer hefty scholarships for OOS based on SAT and GPA there are none for NHRP.

P.S
beware of Alabama they do not super score your SAT or ACT scores they go by single sittings, I learned the hard way because my highest single sitting 2 part on the SAT was a 1390 while my super score was a 1420 (the cutoff for full ride is 1400) so I thought the full ride was coming my way but then they swatted it down like Mutombo.

@Bulldog97‌ hey again sorry for all the posts, I forgot to mention that Northeastern in Boston gives 30k per year and you automatically get a spot in their honors program which has a ton of perks, and Boston University gives 20k per year with the same deal on the honors program.

Here are past cut-off scores for NHRP and National Merit. Still don’t know for this year.

You should also check out University of Arizona (Honors) and Arizona State (Barrett Honors College). They give National Scholars awards large enough to generally cover tuition and priority registration as an honors student.

Check out this subforum too.

Will my 188 PSAT be good enough for NHS if I live in Texas?

@LI516IT , Are you sure about this? Northeastern’s website make it seem like it’s are one time scholarships - flat 30k.

Northeastern U: http://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/cost-financial-aid/scholarships/
"Students who are admitted to Northeastern and are recognized as National Merit Finalists, National Achievement Finalists, or National Hispanic Recognition Program Scholars** will receive a $30,000 merit based award and may also be eligible for financial aid.

Boston is correct, 20k per year.

For Boston, I’ve heard it’s not automatic, you have to be a top student on TOP of that. I don’t know about Northeastern’s though.

^ I got an email back from Northeastern, the scholarship is 30k per year.
