So I just got my National Honor Society app in the mail...any advice?
Also, does band/chorus count as a service activity? Obviously it's not a required class in school. But I also take flute lessons outside of school, could I say that anywhere?

Any advice about the National Honor Society application process/essay/app itself would be greatly appreciated!

I was under the impression that each individual school had its own NHS chapter. We never got NHS applications through the mail, the guidance counselor handed them out to us.

The seriousness of NHS varies greatly from school to school. Some schools allow for almost anyone with an A average to get in. Others are much more stringent. What you can or cannot list would depend on what the NHS program at your school is like. Talk to whoever is in charge of NHS at your school to find out what is deemed appropriate for service hours.

This comic sums up about how seriously NHS is taken at my school unfortunately.

Well I have to write a leadership statement, at most 250 words about experiences as a leader in school/community. I’m kind of stuck on how to start it–I’m the president of a community service club, Interact, and I’ve been the vice president of my grade since freshmen year (I’m a junior now), as well as being involved as only a member in certain clubs. So I’d like to focus on student government and Interact Club…Any ideas on how to start my leadership statement?

…can anyone read my leadership statement or help me write a different one ?

… we didn’t even have to apply. they just chose everyone.
