Nicer Campus UF or FSU?

Which looks better?

Never been to FSU, but UF’s is far from mind-blowing.

FSU, in my opinion, is much nicer. I have been to both. I recently went to UF for the first time, and I did not find it attractive at all. It was one big sprawl. The old section, near the tower, with the old dorms was nice, but the rest of it looked like you could be in a small boring ag school in the midwest.

The northeast area of UF and the eastern part of FSU are similar in architecture, and are arguably the most attractive parts of both campuses.

-UF is definitely more spread out, considering there is a lake and multiple ponds with pockets of vegetation in between classroom building. Parking is such a nightmare, which is why you see an army of bikes, scooters and bus riders on a daily basis.

-FSU is much much more compact, plus there are plenty of parking garages. I love the eastern portion of the campus and how all the dorms are connected, especially with Landis green to the immediate left of the area. However, the western most portion of FSU (with the exception of the sporting facilities and college of medicine) looks like the projects in Harlem or the Bronx (The old crappy dorms make this the reason).

On a whole, UF’s campus is nicer IMO by a small margin, but FSU’s eastern side of campus is the best portion of any campus in any of the universities in Florida. FSU/UF have the most in common of any of the campuses in Florida in terms of the old brick architecture utilized in the majority of the academic buildings.

FSU is pretty, but I like UF better… however, I may be biased. The area of campus where Library West is, and Century Tower, is absolutely beautiful. And, if you walk by where the chemistry buildings are, it’s really pretty. The rest of it is very pretty, too. I personally think UF is very small, and not spread out at all (just my opinion), especially once you get used to the area… unless if you’re talking about places that are really far out of the way, like the Lakeside dorm, and Southwest Rec (the gym).

I visited both FSU and UF in the last month and I’d say they are fairly equal. FSU is more hilly and has a more northern feel but the buildings on both campuses are almost identical. I felt like FSU felt a little, and i mean only a tiny bit, run down compared to UF. FSU is a bit more compact though I don’t think UF is all that sprawling at all-at least not as much as people are saying- unless you’re really out of shape and can’t even walk a mile which is like the farthest you’d ever have to. They’re both beautiful old brick campuses in my opinion.

I don’t really understand how the rest of UF looks like a “boring ag school in the midwest” outside of the Tower area?? I think that comment merits a little more elaboration. I mean I am honestly curious what parts of the campus were so boring. Everything was clustered around the tower and union and the only buildings more out of the way were southwest recreation center. I don’t agree with Floridadad’s assessment at all.

But I have only toured and visited a friends at both FSU and UF a few times in my life.

FSU looks a bit run down in my opinion. What I hate the most about FSU’s campus are its roads – many of them are narrow, one way, and lead to dead ends. Basically, the campus roads are very poorly architected.
