Did you hear for GS Enviro by email or snail mail? Haven't heard anything yet and just wondering if that's bad news.

yeah i applied to gse, but i haven't heard anything either. =

accepted to school on environment!
:D found out last night by email, lol, after i checked the mail box 5 times. I read the email three times to make sure it was real, haha XD
even though they said they'd mail it out 4/3 my friend found out she got waitlisted at science on 4/2 :O
yeah does anyone know the stats or know where the stats could be found at en? my friend told me around 80 out of 440 people were accepted in sciences, but i dont know where she found that out.

Heard yesterday @ 6:30 p.m. by e-mail...they said they would notify applicants by e-mail. Accepted...yeah :<).
Anyone else hear yesterday of acceptance by e-mail....how many are we going to be in the GS Environ. prgrm? Anyone know?

My Daughter went to Gov School on the Environment last summer and had the most amazing experience! She called it "life changing". Last year's kids have reunions every couple of months and are still very close. Congrats to those who got in. You are going to have the time of your lives!

i applied to gse but i havent gotten any email or letter and im worried

does this mean i got rejected?

I'm sure you would've gotten word if you've been rejected.

Hey CCers! I got my letter of acceptance for the NJ Gov School of International Studies yesterday. I was looking through this board and saw that several of you applied there as well. I'm assuming most of you will receive your letters Monday, since several haven't posted.

I created a Facebook group for NJGSIS 2009. Join if you were accepted!

So Atawallpa920, TanTan06, gkapoor13, pianokeys555, iEatReeds, umbro2914, jblpright, FashionCapital, fhollis218... lemme know what your status is!

I also figured each of us could post statistics in order to determine trends -- based on grades and relevant ECs -- for acceptance, waitlisting, and rejection.

Name: Josh Casto
School: Hillsborough High School
County: Somerset
GPA: 95.27 UW / 103.22 W
Rank: 2/6
PSATS: 233 soph. / 229 jun.
ECs: Debate President, Mock Trial Team Captain (Attorney)
Rec: APUSH teacher, excellent
Essays: mediocre -- autobio, "From Puzzles to Politics," was about how I became interested in politics; issue essay, "Statism: The Last Great Threat to Global Prosperity," was about reducing government to promote well-being.

Anyway, congrats to those accepted, and good luck in other endeavors to those who sadly were not.

:P

Why, Josh Casto, aren't you the productive one?

"Rec: APUSH teacher, excellent"

I've heard lots of people assess the quality of their recommendation(s) for college and program applications, and I'm curious -- how do you actually know how good it was? Do you read it yourself, or do you just judge it by the quality of your relationship to the teacher?

Is there a group for Public Issues yet on Facebook?
I didn't see many people who got in on CC. :/

Making a note about promised acceptances for the Class of 2014 -- any student who attends and completes the NJ Governor's School in the Sciences is guaranteed free tuition for four years at Drew University.

Has anyone else been accepted to the Governor's School in the Sciences? Would it be too corny to start an acceptance list with usernames in case we'd like to contact each other before the programs? I think I'll start it, and we'll see if it carries on: :P

Governor's School Acceptances--
Engineering & Technology: compwiz3000
Environment: pjlover, muppybird2, NLin515, baconchedda
International Studies: joshcasto
Public Issues: supermodella
Sciences: PrakStar, feuxfollets, megalomanic, Pynne, cloisicecream92

I know it's somewhat trivial, but did Gov School adcoms look at junior year PSAT scores?

I know I sent in my PSAT scores because my school received them the day the Governor's School applications were to be mailed out, but it may have varied for each student.

I got accepted for environment, but I probably won't go because it's only two weeks now.

I just created the Public Issues 2009 group on FB, so anyone who would like to join can search and find. :) Can't wait!

I'm beginning to think I definitely didn't get into IS. :( Congrats, Josh! I'm from Somerset county, too. And, considering that you got in...I guess this means I didn't? Haha.

I can say for a fact that my PSATs were not good at all! My essays and community involvement however probably helped me a lot.

I am excited to hear of all the people that got in!!! to the people who havent heard from GSE, dont worry! this stuff is all technical, so something could have easily gone wrong! we'll probably get actual letters in the mail soon.

and good luck to the ISers! just one more day, hang in there!

i look forward to seeing all of the GSEers this summer :) we're going to be the BEST class yet!

I'm going to make the assumption that iEatReeds and I did not receive our letters yet because we're in South Jersey. Hopefully that's a reasonable assumption. ;) Otherwise congratulations joshcastro on your acceptance and hopefully we'll be able to also join the facebook group soon.

Where are the other IS applicants here from?
