NJ Public State School Rankings

Would anyone be able to rank NJ public state schools in terms of their academics/reputation/etc.? Also, more insight into what they're "known" for, if anything?

I have no idea (this is for a sibling) since I wasn't looking to stay in state at all.

Stats are (510V, 600M, 500(?)W, GPA: 3.2, very moderate extracurriculars) - we would like for somewhere cheaper (hence in state) but with decent academics and a chance for him to actually get in...

I found the list to include:
Rutgers U. (presumably just the New Brunswick campus - Rutgers College)
NJIT
TCNJ
Kean
Richard Stockton
Rowan
Montclair
William Paterson
Ramapo
New Jersey City??
Thomas Edison??

Thanks in advance! So lost, never considered anything in state other than Rutgers...

Here's just my opinion:

TCNJ
Rutgers
NJIT
Montclair/Rowan
Ramapo/William Paterson/Kean
Everything else

Warning though, I really don't know too much about the state schools, and each has their own specialty. For example, if you're going to do music or musical theater, Montclair is the obvious choice. If you want a small school, NJIT and TCNJ are obviously better choices than Rutgers-NB.

I also just want to reiterate that you should take my "rankings" with some salt. I've only really looked at Rutgers/NJIT/TCNJ, and are ranking the rest in terms of who I know from my school have gone where- not really an accurate measure.
