Hi you all ! I noticed that there wasn't any thread for this years nj scholars and I would like to create one so yea.... does anyone know when does the notification come out?

Soon

Hopefully and thanks for replying :D

Probably in the next two days.

Can’t wait until it’s out and did you apply too or

I’m on their Board of Trustees.

Hello, Kenneth1960. I’m not sure to what extent you can answer these questions, but I would appreciate any input that you could give.

Decisions come out within a week. If I get an interview, what happens next? How are the ~150 semifinalists reduced to a mere 39 Scholars for the program? Is the interview the only factor in determining finalist status, or is everything revisited for final selection for the program? Finally, any tips you could give for the group interview?

Thanks!

Interviews are important, but everything is reviewed. Just be yourself in the interview.

Alright, good to hear. I’m really interested in the topic, so hopefully I can add to the conversation.
Besides all of that, how much does your location matter? I’m from Bergen Country, and I would expect that there is a plurality of applicants coming from Bergen. Does this make it tougher for me?

We try to get broad representation across the state. That said, we pick the most qualified candidates.

I guess it is not coming out in February :C

Heh, yeah I guess not. Kenneth said in two days (two days ago) that they should be sent out, so hopefully we will get them tomorrow.

Hi everyone!

I was a scholar last year, and the program was single-handedly the best experience of my life! I was honored to work with the faculty, and meet many of the scholars that were selected. It truly is a fantastic intellectual and social experience that challenges the status quo learning processes, and stimulates individual academic curiosity.

The scholars I met are some of the closest thirty-eight individuals I know, and they’re extremely well-rounded students who will be attending the top universities in the United States.

If you have any questions about the program, please feel free to ask—I’ll be happy to share my experience with anyone. I look forward to meeting some of you at the interview!

I got an interview! March 28.

@Tman1005: Congratulations! Good luck on your interview.

@Tman1005 did you get your notification through e-mail or…? I’m so worried right now I haven’t got anything

And congratulations btw :)

I got my letter in the mail today.

Oh okay, I’ll check my mail tomorrow crosses fingers and thank you and congrats again

OH MY GOD!! Interview on the 29th!! So happy

@Jay2631: Congratulations to you, too! You’re in for a great experience.
