^I see what was posted, just saying it’s a misinterpretation of the TOS.
You can’t swing a dead cat on CC without finding posts that refer to something read or seen on Facebook, etc. Discussing data shouldn’t be an issue…posting links to it is a violation.
The mods do a good job most of the time, but they’re not always perfect.
It’s not just linking. Pasting direct words from that website - for example, the blog writer’s advice on the essay component of the NMF application - is apparently also against the TOS.
That’s my point…it’s not against the TOS as far as I can tell.
@Wolverine86 - well, it’ll be interesting to see what happens this year! LOL.
MODERATOR’S NOTE:
Correct.
Saying “I read on Facebook” is fine. Saying “There’s a group of Facebook for Parents of Class of 2021” is fine. Saying “There’s a group of Facebook for Parents of Class of 2021. The link is Facebook/parents(space)Class(space)…Remove the spaces” is not. If the link is not allowed, then trying to spell around the filter is also not allowed. Most of these pages are pretty easy to find.
what are the chances of state cutoff for NH going to 220+? I have a 219 and want to know if this is feasible. Last year it was 216.
The highest cutoff index was 222 last year. The 3 point move to 225 would seem ridiculous.
@kjake2000, I don’t think any state has gone up four points in one year. You should be very safe with your 219.
@grtd2010, states on the lower side could definitely go up three points without forcing the highest cutoff states up three points. They definitely do not all move in lockstep. Any state going up more than three points seems really really unlikely, but NH going up to 219 would not mean any state is going up to 225.
If the low end went up by 2, the only way for a lower side state to go up by three would be relative improvement (say, for instance, a whole lot more take the test this year so there are more at the higher end . . ). That’s always possible, because even with no overall shift, some states will go up a bit and some down. At least, that was true for the old test. With this new one it could be anyone’s guess for another year or two.
Compass has a new entry with updated cutoff predictions. I bet I wasn’t the only one eagerly awaiting the promised update!
The new chart confirms my guess for Texas (221) just hope Art is right on that one!
Looks like S is probably safe at 222 in TX, but I’m also hoping for 221 for @3scoutsmom!
What are the odds that a 221 in CA will get Semifinalist status this year? It seems too hard to tell considering that a 221 was the cutoff last year…
@sgupta123 you are what is known on cc as “on the bubble” make sure you have a plan “B”
Question, please!
Should we use this thread as a general Class of 2018 NM thread, or should we make a new one? I got into a somewhat lengthy discussion on the 2017 thread, and I felt like I was hi-jacking their thread with 2018 stuff.
If here is the proper place, I’ll just make a general comment that I hope the cutoffs don’t go up much / at all even though we know Commended went up.
S has a 223 in CA, so intellectually, I know he should be safe but I still stress over it from time to time. If he makes it, he’ll be the first ever at his school. Granted, the school is new and has only been open since 2009, but still kinda cool.
Editing because I thought I was posting on the class of 2017 thread! Opps!
This thread is fine!
@DiotimaDM , I like having this thread for the class of 2018. What was the cutoff last year in CA? My daughter is at 218 in PA, and that was the cutoff last year. Hoping she can make it, but I don’t want to get upset if she doesn’t.
Doesn’t matter to me if there is a new threat at all.
