NMS cutoff predictions for class of 2018

Another one in Pennsylvania

While we wait nervously on the ledge, roll call for those seeking NMSF/NMS merit scholarships! Please list school(s) and applicable awards so we can help educate each other.

D has Canadian citizenship, affording her very reasonable tuition to any school up there (like ~4-5k/year tuition, before any merit scholarships), but she is applying to some American NMF colleges as well.

OU (in state) and ASU are her super-safeties. She will visit USC (Cal) in October. As of now, USC is pretty high on her list. H and I would like it even more if she could land one of their full tuition scholarships, but we’ve told D we could make the NMF half tuition scholarship work should she be admitted.

I have been impressed with all I’ve learned about the University of Alabama. Their nmf package is great. If daughter makes it to nmsf, we are going for a visit. She and my husband are on board with visiting and getting facts.

At least three and possibly four of the five schools on S’s list offer at full tuition plus to NMFs.

Louisville offers full tuition plus 8k stipend (in state only). Cincinnati has the competitive (limited number, not guaranteed) Cincinnatus scholarship. Many on this site are familiar with Alabama’s NMF scholarship. Kentucky historically has a full ride but may not continue to offer to class of 2018 and beyond.

Centre does not offer any significant money specific to NMF status, only competitive scholarships.

UT Dallas auto admit full ride (give or take a few $100 a year) for National Merit. As with @traveler98 ds is sold on UTD with or without NM.

Hope I’m not too late to the forum! I’m from Alabama, and UofA has a very nice National Merit scholarship…I don’t think I’ll go there if I get it, just worth pointing out.

@CTMorris1999 not too late at all. Welcome to the “ledge”. The fun is only just beginning here.

Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, U of Houston, and UNM offer big NMF packages. OU used to offer a fantastic deal but this year it’s cut back, especially for out of state.

I’m from California, sitting on the ledge with a SI of 222!

I’m looking into the full ride scholarships at UTD and UCF! I, surprisingly, haven’t seen too much on these forums about UCF’s scholarship! They cover full cost of tuition for 4 years if anyone’s interested!

Apologies for the slight repeat of info - S has a 223 in CA. If he makes the cut, he will be taking a full ride to U of New Mexico where he will study psychology, theater and pre-med / emergency services.

@sewin2music , I was JUST about to post asking why nobody mentions UCF. Incredible deal there when you consider it’s a “full ride” with the Honors College and Honors housing (which is an apartment in a key campus location including full kitchen, etc.). If you forego their housing or meal plan, they direct deposit those funds to you. Beautiful campus too. Best of luck to you!

@CTMorris1999 , Welcome! Never too late and good luck!

California!

Florida! 219 (ledge) and waiting to hear! Except for me, with one C and plenty of B’s, I’ll continue to worry after semifinalist until the finalist notifications come out  anybody else in that boat?

Texas, waiting for kind people to share the essay prompt as I know we won’t hear from the school until the embargo date. NMF schools D has applied to: UA, TAMU, and USC.

Iowa. SI of 223, so I don’t think we need to join the ledge but I’ll still feel better when we have the letter in hand!

NE boarding, 224, all As except for one B+ freshman year. New to this so feel on the ledge regardless.

So will schools get mailed the letter or will the letters be mailed to our homes?

@kjake2000 , the letters will only be sent to schools. Homeschool families will receive the letter, however, because they are effectively the “principal.”

Are we there yet?
