NMS cutoff predictions for class of 2018

In addition to checking Art’s blog, I’ve been looking at the Austin area homeschool yahoo lists and the Well Trained Mind forum to see if any homeschoolers are posting. Zip so far…

I’m going to need something stronger than Sangria, I’m bringing over a pitcher of margaritas strong, as in make mine a double, to get through this. @traveler98 are you close enough to the cost to get some fresh Gulf shrimp to bring to the party? Maybe I’ll some put on some Jimmy Buffett tunes to calm my nerves…

@3scoutsmom I’m not quite close enough but my H works with a lot of people in coastal Louisiana, I bet he can hook us up with some nice Gulf seafood. And probably a nice strong batch of Hurricanes to drink…

@traveler98 that sounds divine!

Pssst, for something stronger than sangria… try the brownies. ;))

RE: Good NM scholarships.

The University of Idaho’s NMF scholarship pays for tuition (in or out of state), basic fees (i.e. not specific class fees), and room and board for university housing (for a basic double room and meal plan). It also increases as these costs increase.

Washington State University offers full tuition for in or out of state NMSF or NMF.

@3scoutsmom , I am in coastal Louisiana and can help @traveler98 with the seafood! But Hurricanes are for tourists and just too dang sweet. I will bring Skylab Fallouts, Monsoons and some Urban South Grapefruit IPA.

Hey now @vistajay, while I do admit to being a transplanted Yankee I actually lived in New Orleans for six years. I can’t say I ever saw a male local drink a hurricane but my New Orleans local female friends surely enjoyed them, and not just at Pat O’s on a Saturday night. I even went to a wedding (of a native New Orleanian) where they had pitchers of hurricanes everywhere!

Posting so we’re not stuck at 666 anymore. :smiley: No whammies!

OK fine @traveler98 but for the love of Art at Compass just don’t use the pre-made hurricane mix!

@GoAskDad

I don’t know if its automatic or not, but KState offered DS the Putnam scholarship (not quite full tuition) pretty quickly for NMF.

I’m totally following this thread for the excitement. Can’t believe it’s been a year since we did this.

One difference for this year will be for those homeschoolers who have signed up for informed delivery from USPS, we should know we have a letter coming even before it actually hits our mailbox!

Great point, @iahomeschoolmom

I recall reading a response from Art to a parent in the vast comments section, that he would update at the top of that posting when new intel rolls in.

I see the mail truck comin’, it’s rolling round the bend
And I ain’t seen a letter since I don’t know when,
I’m stuck in August waiting, and time keeps draggin’ too
But that truck keeps a rollin,’ just like my SAT IIs.

When I was just a baby my mama told me, Son,
Always do your homework, learn to write and sum.
So I took the gosh darn P-SAT, raised my score so high,
When I hear that mail truck rollin’, I hang my head and cry…

^^BRILLIANT! I’d much rather have Johnny Cash in my head than Bonnie Tyler.

Omg @suzy100 I’ve had Bonnie Tyler stuck in my head for days! :))

We’ve got the Cutoff Waitin’ Blues. :smiley:

Art responded!! He’s there and reading posts but their family is on vacation in August. @DiotimaDM , he even answered you. Haha

Cue the CC Ledge Crew to crash the Compass site by accident.

OK, everybody ready? Crashing Compass in 3…2…1…

Hmm, he said he was going to update the top of the really long post and the top of the Researching post with new info. I wonder if he really means both, or if he didn’t realize that the comments were spread across two posts?

@DiotimaDM If it’s like last year there will be a new post with cut-offs by state as they are confirmed. Nothing will be posted unless confirmed.

Here on CC, posters may find it convenient to keep a “list in process” showing ranges or mins/maxes as they are reported. Here is the thread from last year, in case anyone hasn’t seen it yet:
