NMS cutoff predictions for class of 2018

@FLteacher thanks!! hope you guys get it as well!

Art’s site is running so slowly. Must have massive traffic!

Good luck to all. We missed year by 1 point - which cost us $12K in merit money over all 4 years. Oh well!

Thanks for all the encouragement and condolences! Truly I wasn’t expecting a 221 to make it in VA, so we weren’t too surprised. Just hopeful, especially since a 45 minute drive in any direction puts us in one of four different states where 221 is a lock. However, S has a very good attitude. His top four choices don’t offer much-if anything-extra for NMF, so he doesn’t have to eliminate them from the running because, as my husband says, “If it’s free, it’s for me.” Best wishes to everyone on your college and scholarship quests!

Update from MN a 221 is semi-finalist. We homeschool and just got notice today.

So much news coming in! Congrats to those who made it, and I’m sorry to hear about those who missed. Thank you to everyone who is adding to the dataset!

I don’t know if I created the results thread too early or if this discussion one is just too entertaining, but the results one isn’t getting much love. Oh well.

Is there any news from MICHIGAN. I’m dying to find out…

Any more news from Missouri? I know 219 made it. Anyone else have lower successful scores?

I’m new to CC but I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who posted their kids’ scores/results. Congrats to those who made it, and I am sorry to those who didn’t - although as many have said, these kids all have a great future ahead of them! Next stop - parents of 2018 forum to say hello there.

@Traveler98, Could you please elaborate on what the no C’s and possibly have to look into B’s comment? Are you referring to those with any C’s or B’s in their transcripts may not make the final transition from NMSF to NMF?

Does anyone have any information on Louisiana?

General question - Does anyone know what “scores that confirm your 20XX PSAT/NMSQT performance” requirement mean? Is this based on YY percentile in PSAT compared to similar YY percentile in SAT or something more mathematical as in (ZZZZ/1520)*1600 where ZZZZ is the PSAT score out of 1520?

My first time comment here but I have been following this thread and enjoyed reading the comments.
We are in Oregon and my kid got 219, so I am so anxiously waiting for any news ( hopefully good news).
Congrats to all that got good news!!!

First time posting… Thanks to everyone sharing info. I’m in Michigan waiting with homeschool 218. I just want to chime in saying we haven’t seen any mail.

@TexanIndian to advance from NMSF to NMF one of the requirements is a recent confirming score on SAT (I think this is your question).

No one can tell you yet exactly what the confirming score is for class of 2018 because NM hasn’t announced it yet. We know it won’t be above the commended cut-off of SI of 211 for class of 2018.

The raw SAT score doesn’t matter, but rather like the PSAT score for NMSF cut-off they go by the SI (selection index). Have to convert the raw score to SI. Example: 1480 (750 EBRW, 730M) converts to SI of 223. (750/10 = 75 X 2 =150, 730/10 = 73, 150 + 73 = 223)

@PONYCHUK from Art’s blog LA = 216 but not confirmed yet.

@PONYCHUK According to Art’s blog Louisiana cut-off is 216.

@traveler98 the results thread is awesome. I think it has just been so fluid today that we all keep coming back to this thread for the latest! Would be good if the results thread got updated at least once a day, maybe end of the day to recap the day’s action. Just my thought, but I may be missing the intent.

DS did not make it with a 221 in OR. (Principal email reply to my inquiry.) Surprised, because that means the score in OR went up by a lot. (Actually I just looked back at the 2017 cut score and it was 219, but >221 passes all anticipated score bumps for 2018 OR.)

@tandrsmom
Thanks for sharing, even though the news was not good for your son. 222 in Oregon would be above predictive range. Hang in there.

I have a feeling the 219s from last year are going to see the largest average increase.
