Can I necessarily expect an alumni interview if I’ve already done a senior on-campus interview?

should we bring anything to the interview? how about attaching a resume to an email?

i didn’t bring anything

^ How’d it go, pigsatsea?

Okay well what if you applied 2 days before a friend from the same school and he got contacted for an interview today and you haven’t been?

I live in Auckland, New Zealand so surely there can’t be soo many applicants that they can’t get thru them all?? Does it jst mean my app was chucked in the bin coz my SAT scores were too low?

Yes ravenbelle, your materials, among the other 5000 or so SCEA applicants that came in the last few weeks, have been scoured over. Your recommendations viewed, committees have already met on your behalf and you’ve been turned down. Your rejection letter has already been printed but has been filed away because Yale can’t inform you until Dec 15.

Or not.

Ravenbelle: If you’ve read any of this thread or the other thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/283957-rd-applicants-interview-advice.html or the sticky thread http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/yale-university/804985-alumni-campus-interview-faq.html

you’ll convince yourself that you are over reacting. Relax, thanks for applying to Yale, and best of luck to you.

Good one. T26E4.

Ravenbelle, don worry and all the best!

haha … yea I know I am pretty paranoid bout that SAT score =P
I just can’t comprehend how my friend who submitted AFTER me got contacted BEFORE me … I’m been reading heaps of CC posts jst to find someone in the same situation as me!

thank you Iamhopeful – you too! (assuming you’re still hopeful)

jblpright, i had an on-campus interview over the summer. i submitted my app on 10/10, and got an e-mail from an alumni yesterday offering an interview. she said that since i’d had an on-campus interview, an alumni interview wasn’t necessary, but still a good opportunity.

ravenbelle: to jump to your specific worry: the order in which interviews are conducted is serendipity. Alumni volunteers are given contact info. When and how they contact the applicant isn’t uniform. Frankly, you may NEVER be contacted for an interview.

However, since Yale neither pre-sorts applicants for interviews or even requires them, your anxiety would be better spent on something more important.

oh thank goodness! Thanks
T26E4. Haha I think its the fact that the application is gone there is nothing left for me to do that bothers me =D
Guess I should get to work on my A-level exams then!

ahhhhh, i’m still waiting for the alumni people to contact me for an interview… i’m going insane i mean i’m literally freaking myself out…

I was freaking out too, but I got contacted a few days ago. So don’t worry about it - you may get it when least expected

^I am hoping. I want an alumni interview so badly!

I was lucky, I was contacted within a week to have an alumni interview and had it a week later. It went great though, 2 hour sustained conversation!

ackk so my interviewer emailed me and i replied but she hasn’t responded yet and it’s been a few days…i’m starting to second guess myself…maybe i was too informal or something? idk…agh.

Nah they are busy busy people =)
I got my interview in the end too!! Yay I’m looking forward to it

I never had an interview last year, even when I was from Southern California.

I can’t wait to interview frightened seniors myself. Seems like the only solace to the whole injustice of it. It might be fun just to stare at them in awkward silence at a noisy Starbucks until they start crying. :)

tristan: you nailed it. Your informality outraged the alum. She then turned around and emailed Yale “R-E-J-E-C-T this jerk!”

cmon chillax
