I'm visiting Emory and Oxford next weekend, unfortunately, however, I will not be able to attend a campus tour. -_-;
So, as a lone visiter with no prior knowledge of Emory environment, is there something I should look for specifically when I visit there? Any hotspots? Can a visitor sneak into classroom lectures? Is MARTA dangerous to ride alone?
Gosh, I need to make sure this trip is $500 worthwhile.

Thanks

for Koreans, any place I can go to see a prominent Korean community?

Try to check in with the Admission Office to let them know you are there. There should be somebody in the office tomorrow (Monday).

The Admission Office is in the B-Jones Bldg. (Boisfeuillet-Jones). Classes are not in session for the Spring Semester yet, but students will begin to arrive back from break, starting today.

Depending on your major, try to contact some professors while you're on campus. Ask students if they can help you find your way around. Since they haven't started classes, they may be more open to engaging with you. The Korean student community is very large, and they have a significant organization in place for everything Korean. Grab a map from the B-Jones Bldg., and go for a self-tour.

Marta is generally looked down on by a lot of people in the ATL area, however I've never had any problems with safety. It is however very confusing to people who are unfamiliar with how Marta works. As a visitor, probably the first thing to know about marta is that you use these BreezeCards which cost $5, but you can only buy them at one of the rail lines. To get to a rail, you can take a bus but you have to have exact change ($1.75) and you end up having to pay again when you get a breeze card (no bus to rail transfer with cash). If you have a suitable way to get around in a car, it's preferable to Marta. You'll need a car to get around Oxford and the surrounding areas (Covington, Conyers, etc.)

Though if you do decide to use Marta, I'd be glad to explain it a bit more.

Oh, and check out Little Five Points. It's got a few homeless guys and eclectics running around, but it's a fun place to look around (The Vortex is pretty good to eat at too.) If your parents are coming with you though, they might not... appreciate... Little 5 as much.

Yes, I should definitely go check out the admission office. Wouldn't hurt to leave my mark there.
I wish I could travel around Atlanta, but going off to uncharted territory alone doesn't sound too well. I guess I'll just be walking around Emory campus and definitely take a shuttle to Oxford.
Question: How much does it cost to take the shuttle to Oxford? Is it associated with MARTA?

Make sure you explore the B. Jones Center, as mentioned above. You may want to have lunch in the DUC (Dobbs University Center), and actually, I have a funny story for you. I missed the tour last year, but the tour guide was kind enough to take nearly two hours out of her day to walk me around campus and give me the inside scoop on Emory. It went far beyond "This is the science building," "This is the cafeteria," type thing. It was excellent.
Definitely drop by Admissions and throw your name around as much as possible! Emory needs to know that you were there.
Other than that, walk briskly and enjoy your time there! I'll be at Emory myself next weekend, so maybe I'll see you there!
