Any chance at Berkeley when I've been rejected from UCSD and UCLA?

I just saw my rejection from UCSD.
Sigh..
I know it's not likely, but is there ANY chance it could happen?

Same here: Rejected from SD and LA. waiting for Berkeley…
I wouldn’t expect much… but dont lose hope

Oh and I forgot, why not just post it:
GPA:4.25 weighted, 3.67 unweighted
2040 SAT
Subject tests:
Literature:630
Math 2:690
US History:650

Tons of extra curriculars but from what I’m seeing, UCs don’t care too much about them.
I also spent a ton of time on my essays, and I thought they were pretty good -__-
It’s probably my test scores that are ruining me…

It’s probably my test scores that are ruining me…

Not your SAT I score, that was okay for UCSD. It may be your UC GPA, your intended major, or your residency status, imo.

3.93 UC GPA
4.42 weighted

Whats wrong with my app? Chances at Berkeley?

im wondering the same thing…been declined from ucsd and ucla

4.3 wgpa 10/11

umm don’t laugh at me, but how do you calculate the uc gpa? i’ve googled it but i think i’m doing something wrong -__-

Waiting on Berkeley and UCSB.

I’ve heard stories of kids getting rejected from these schools but getting into Berkeley, but that’s rarer. We’ll see. Good luck to you all.

Okay nevermind, if I’m doing it correctly, my unweighted UC GPA is a 3.73 and 3.96 weighted.

As for extra curriculars, I’ve got
Best Buddies,
Leo Club,
Indian Club,
Confirmation teacher at Church,
Orchestra,
CSF,
National Honor Society,

and I’ve gotten 4’s all all of my AP’s except for a 5 on AP Writing and Comp.

All these stats just go to show you that there is no way of knowing who will be excepted. It depends of the difficulty of your major and how many other kids with the same stats or better want the same spot as you.
An article came out last week after the UCLA decisions saying that the UC system will accept 11,000 kids they don’t have funding for because there are sooooo many applicants this year.

Good luck to you guys i’m waiting on Cal too :/

It’s not all lost. I know 2-3 years ago one cc kid was reject from UCSD and UCLA but got into UCB.

Yeah my brother was rejected from ucsd but got into ucb. I would say, expect the worst and if you don’t get in then youll know it was sorta coming.

Same here, got rejected from UCLA but thought I would be able to get into UCSD, but nope! Rejected from both lol :frowning: Should I just give up hope on private unis as well? If I can’t even get into UCSD, what private would ever accept me?

Unweighted GPA 3.6
SAT 2230 (superscore 2310 but UCs don’t care about that)
Math 2c: 800
Lit: 720
Chem: 700

NM Semifinalist
National Honor Society
CSF President & Seal bearer
Band & MUN 4 years
Internship at dental clinic & motel

Trying to keep expectations nonexistent but it’s so hard this time of the year :(

FWIW, my daughter got accepted to both UCSD and UCLA as well as Davis and Irvine

Weighted GPA 4.62
SAT 2150
multiple Varsity sports, etc.

Waiting for the word from Berkeley (where I went), but if she goes to a UC, it will probably be UCLA

P.S. She was ELC eligible

i think its going to be hard… cal doesnt do the point system but the fact that you got rejected to LA and SD doesnt help…

same here, rejected by both ucsd and ucla, but got into ucsb and uci, currently waiting for ucb and ucd.
weighted GPA about 4.2
ACT 24
SAT II 800 and 610

club and extra curriculars:
Interact, Political campaign and etc

due to the overwhelming amount of applicants this years, i guess im lucky for even getting into a uc?? but im not yet losing hope on my chance at Berkeley though my intended major is film and media ( heartbroke from ucla’s rejection =[ )

Yes, there’s a chance.

Happened to me. i had a 4.1ish UC GPA and a 2290 SAT. Both of my SAT II’s were in the 700’s, don’t remember what they were exactly. I guess you could check out my post history if you really want to know other stuff. I remember being incredulous because SD invited me to apply for their medical scholars program, I assumed that meant I had a great shot. Guess not.

From my experience… it is not all grades or test scores. I worked really hard on my essays and had a variety of extracurricular activities. But, all UCs differ, you may get into UCLA and not get into Berkeley. I wish you the best of luck… I did not apply to UCSD, but I was accepted to UCLA.

I think you all still have a chance. I have known a couple of kids who got denied from UCLA and got into to Berkeley. This year Berkeley ranked number 3 behind UCLA and UCSD in applications.

Good Luck!!!

little off topic but how do you know how many applications they received?
