no chance for college?

I'm going to make this short and simple. I'm a high school junior with a gpa of around 2.97-3.24 An SAT of 2060, and a decent amount of ecs. The normal answer I hear these days is "no chance". Well, I try to keep an upbeat attitude about this but, can someone tell me if it's hopeless to get into some schools such as NYU,UMCP(im in state), Michigan, etc? There are 2 things I can say about my gpa. One is the amount of AP/ rigorous courses I take. I don't know about you but i find it unfair some people get 4.0s taking the most easy classes (such as cooking) or cheat their way into getting high grades. Am I the only one with this feeling? Oh and the gpa i listed above is uw. w is around 3.8 Does taking all these rigorous courses help? Or am I just screwing myself over. I'm trying really hard and pushing myself to the limit but sometimes I wonder if this is the wrong path to take. Oh yea, the other problem was spanish haha, I just completely have issues with it. Killed my freshman gpa when i received C's and D's in that class. But I don't take spanish anymore.

edit: wow, i just noticed it's not short or simple haha
edit 2: 6 ap's by end of junior year, maybe more by senior year

I think if you get your GPA above a 3.0 and keep it there consistently between your junior and senior years, you'll be fine for NYU which I assume is your top choice.

Your SAT looks great. Just put more work into that GPA to show colleges you aren't lazy.

A person in my class got rejected from a crappy state school with a 2380 SAT score because his GPA was 2.5!

Get it up to 3.0-3.5 range! The 3.0-3.5 looks in reach for you.

nope no chance for college sorry

Indiana University-Bloomington should become your new best friend.

I'm in the same boat.

Don't listen to the two people who said you can't do it.

You have the motiviation so use it to your advantage. You can easily boost your GPA if you have 1-2 good semesters.

Gah, I didn't intend to sound as if I were saying he can't do it.

I was suggesting a good match, which I actually plan to attend myself.

You can do it. Your SAT is fantastic, and your GPA, in retrespect, isnt that bad. It's better than mine.

Keep up the motivation and you'll be golden.

I don't see why you wouldn't get accepted into a college. You may not have a 4.0 but if you are getting 4s and 5s on most of your APs, it will be a huge advantage. Your SAT is also really good for a junior that has time to take it 1 or 2 more times. Plus, you'll have score choice so whether or not you do worse or better, it will work in your favor.

If NYU is your dream school, by all means apply. No one can say that you are with 100% certainty that you're getting in, but its not a complete long shot. Just make sure to have a mix of schools that range from extremely safe to reaches.

NYU and Michigan are pretty much a complete longshots, but i guess Maryland is in play. they might take you for spring semester.

In selective schools, many applicants take many APs and still get straight A's. It's definitely possible if you try hard enough. =]

you'll be okay. just ace those college essays, and do lots of ECs
