No early interview?

Hey!

Does anybody have information on how Yale schedules applications? Should I be worried if I have yet to be contacted for an interview? It seems like some here on CC have already scheduled theirs.

If it makes any difference, I submitted my app right before the early deadline. Am I right to assume that’s a factor?

Thanks!

I applied like. 15 minutes before the deadline and I haven’t gotten one either :))

I applied 72+ hours before the deadline in an area of the country that has a crazy-high applicant but also alum density, and have not yet been contacted. Kind of nervous

I have read the faq, but even a quote from the Chicago ASC chairman states that students who receive interviews are more likely to be accepted. As someone who applied early, I am deeply concerned that I haven’t received an interview notification yet.

The Chgo ASC chair’s statement is at odds with what Yale says and my ASC Chair’s observations. If an EA applicant doesn’t get interviewed, it’s b/c there truly is no one to assign them to — no ASC has info on individual applicant’s strengths/weaknesses – besides those targeted by likely letters.

I suppose this is true – kids who decline an interview aren’t highly favored. Thus, that segment probably has a less than avg admit rate.

@Smargent I’m just taking deep breaths … “whatever’s meant to be will be” is my only sanity in this crazy process … perhaps this is a blessing in disguise—my friend accepted to Yale from my school a few years ago was interviewed by the most sexist individual who expressed the opinion that she shouldn’t go into science because girls weren’t suited to it …

But it’s hard, especially watching everyone else in my entire area go off to their interviews … maybe I’m just so good that they didn’t even bother interviewing!! (Totally kidding, don’t worry; I neither think so highly of myself nor believe that that’s how this works, as a recruited athlete (LL recipient, etc) at my school was just offered an interview, as if that’s going to make a difference in his decision  )

Do we really not have to be worried? I also didn’t get an interview although I live in a high alum density… has anyone tried contacting yale to confirm they will not be offered an interview? I’m personally worried that I missed some sort of communication

Check your spam folder and voice mail?

Don’t try to contact the admissions office about an alumni interview. My understanding is that the admissions office basically just sends the list of names/emails/phone numbers to the local alum association and then gets the interview reports back later; they have nothing to do with scheduling alum interviews and can’t tell you whether or not you will be offered one. When I was a prefrosh and emailed about an interview, they said, “If we are unable to offer you an interview because of space limitations it will not be held against you.”
