On a college review website it said under the 'pros' section that there are no Friday classes at Pitt. Can anyone confirm this? Is this only for a particular school/major? If true that would be awesome!

Hmmm…maybe with creative planning in certain majors but DS has had Friday classes every year at Pitt.

Yeah seemed good to be true, thanks for the response!

My daughter had Friday classes for eight semesters out of eight!

We visited last week and there were plenty of classes being held…even one starting at 3:30 p.m.!!

You can certainly try to plan your schedule without Friday classes, but it might be hard to do in some cases.

Totally false.

My daughter always has Friday classes, but this year, just one.

It’s very possible to have a schedule with no Friday classes, especially if you are an upperclassman and are not a science major.

Yes, and it helps if graduating in four years isn’t important to you. :)

I’d politely disagree… it’s not difficult to not have Friday classes and an at least 15 credit courseload. You will just be more loaded Mon-Thurs.

But like you said, only if you’re not a science major As an Engineer, for me, it’s impossible to avoid required MWF classes…every semester.

As a non-science major (linguistics), I can report that we also have plenty of Friday classes. I’ve had at least three every semester so far, including this coming spring.

There are Friday classes, but it’s very easy to make your schedule so you have no classes on friday or very few. I’m a sophomore now, and here;s my experience. fall of freshman year one 50 minute friday class at 11am, spring of freshman year no friday classes, this semester i have two 50 minute classes at 10am and 11am, next semester i have two 50 minute friday classes scheduled for 11am and 12pm. It also really depends on your major/school and how many credits you are taking. honestly, i’ve found that having 1 or 2 short friday classes (and most are short because they are mon-wed-fri 50 minute classes) is not bad at all, and if you have them earlier in the day you still start your weekend early and if they’re big lectures it’s not a big deal to miss them if you’re traveling home or something on a friday because you can get note from someone.

True. For the past few years, I’ve had a few semesters where I finish early on Friday (2-3pm). And even if I went a little later (5-6pm) the professors are really good about letting you miss for travel and other reasons. Also, things rarely happen early on Fridays anyways, so other than being able to relax a little earlier, there isn’t much advantage to not having class Friday.
