No Interview Offered from Cornell...?

Does this hurt my chances? I didn’t get an interview from Cornell… Got one from Princeton/a few other schools that I applied to, but no email/calls from Cornell. This kind of worries me because I’ve been looking at Cornell pretty seriously.

Don’t worry! Most Ivies can’t give everyone an interview due to limited availability of alumni interviewers. It doesn’t reflect your application status if you aren’t contacted, and shouldn’t hurt your chances at all.

Search this forum…numerous threads on this topic over the years. Most direct answer is that it will have no bearing on your chances for admit.

Cornell has one or two departments that don’t either require or offer interview in the first place. I remember one of them is ILR. Not sure about the other one.

Cornell is kind of like CMU - there’s the university, then individual schools inside of it. Some schools at Cornell do not offer admissions interviews (I applied for engineering, and they explicitly do not). College of AA&P and Hotel Administration require interviews. Fine Arts recommends interviews. No interviews at any other school.

I wouldn’t be too worried about it. Interviews are offered to students but I think it isn’t as big a factor as some people make it out to be. A lot of times colleges use these interviews primarily as a way to keep alumni involved with the university.
