No interview yet?

Hello, I live about 1 hour north of Penn, and I sent in my ED application over a week ago. I still have yet to receive any contact about an interview. I'm confused. I was under the impression that if someone lived in an area where many alumni lived, an interview was almost guaranteed. A friend of mine got contacted about an interview for Columbia a day after he sent in his application, yet 10 days have passed for me and nothing has occurred...I'm a bit worried...

EA? 10char

I don’t understand the question…my friend applied ED to Columbia and I applied ED to Penn.

If it makes you feel any better, I live four blocks away from Penn’s campus…and i haven’t gotten one yet either :</p>

No interview here, and I live in an area with a couple active interviewers.

If you haven’t already done so, read this page:

[Penn Admissions: Interviews](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/applying/interviews.php)

And note that only about 50% of applicants are interviewed, and whether or not you get one generally has no effect on the admissions process.

Yes, I understand that, but I interpreted it as those who live in an area with a high concentration of alumni will most likely get an interview, and people who live too far away from an alumni (e.g. North Dakota) do not get an interview.

^ Often, those who live in an area with a high concentration of alumni, also live in an area with a high concentration of applicants. :)

Bottom line: not being contacted for an interview is not something to worry about.

I haven’t been contacted for an interview yet either. D: Two people in my school were already contacted and I live within an hour of Penn too. x__x"

Like what 45 Percenter posted, though, I found on the Penn website that you can request for an interview if you really really want one (though it isn’t guaranteed): “Requests are unnecessary, but if you absolutely insist, you may let the local alumni chair know of your interest in having an interview using the address listed on the drop-down menu below. Requesting an interview does not guarantee that you will receive an interview.”

[Penn Admissions: Interviews](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/applying/interviews.php)

Just got contacted today. However, the person is a Wharton graduate and I’m applying to CAS, so meh…I don’t know…

@Samonuh: I think the interviewer wants to learn why you want to be at Penn! So, Wharton vs. CAS won’t make too much of a difference.

same, no interview yet.
ED applicant.
Live in LA… largely populated… definitely Penn alumni here

Should I worry?

…Should I request an interview or wait?

Jeeze, I know this has been linked like 5 times in this thread, but here you go again, [Penn Admissions: Interviews](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/applying/interviews.php).

READ IT

“Due to the larger volume of applicants, alumni volunteers currently interview about fifty percent of applicants worldwide. If you are not contacted for an interview, do not worry. Not having an interview will not be held against you.”

Straight from the text. READ IT. STOP WORRYING. GOOD LUCK.

Haha, dont worry if you dont get an interview- i believe its a very random process. I’ve known many students who have gotten into programs like M&T and Huntsman without having an alumni interview!

I know, but I was just asking because the website ALSO says you may decide to contact the alumnus in your area.
Just wondering if I should do that, especially since I’m not straight A’s (I’m not a shoe-in applicant).

No one is a shoe-in at Penn.

Alright, but I’m not assuming I’m one anyway!

…Should I contact the person in my area?
