No more alumni interviews offered in my area...should I drive to the school for one?

So Pomona sent me an email that read something like "due to an unprecedented numnber of apps in your area, we can no longer set you up with an alumni interviewer. Since you have made every attempt possible to interview, your lack of interview will not hurt your chances, and this will be noted in your file." I live in norcal, so it wouldnt be too hard to drive down there over break or a weekend to conduct an interview on campus to show my dedication to that school. I'm just afraid that despite what they say, I may not have much of a shot without an interview. or would i just be wasting my time to drive there?

The difference it might make is probably extremely slight. However, if it is one of your top choices and you are extremely anxious to boost your chances, it might be worth it. After my daughter was waitlisted at one LAC, we did wonder if we should have made that second trip (we had been to campus long before interview time and she didn’t have one). If you want to avoid those feelings later and you REALLY care about Pomona, maybe just go…

OK, I am going to call them and see if it is first feasible, then decide if I want to make the trip

How far of a drive is it? If <8 hours, and Pomona is among your top choices, I would seriously consider making the trip.

Its right about eight hours from the north bay to LA area
