No. Of Waitlisted who got accepted

Does anyone know how many waitlisted students got accepted to Hamilton in 2011??

If you check the 2007-2008 Common Data Set, page 6, you will see that 773 students were placed on the waiting list, 248 accepted a spot on the waiting list, and 25 were admitted off of the waiting list. For a class of about 470 students, that is a large wait list!

I went to the accepted students open house this past Monday, and they told us that they were expecting an over-enrollment this year due to the psychological effect of the perfect weather, an effect statistically valid from past cases. So for those waitlisted, this might mean less will be taken from the waitlist this year, so if you really want to attend Hamilton, you are going to have to really distinguish yourself as the top ten or so on the waitlist, because I would be really surprised to see them accept more than 10 people from the waitlist this year.

now that's weird......."psychological effect of the perfect weather"

^Yeah, when I went to the open house, they said that they looked at their records to the past when there had been weather equally pleasant, and their records showed that whenever there was really good weather (mid 70's, sunny, very light breeze, not a single cloud, etc), there would be an over-enrollment. They kept making a big deal out of the weather the entire day--even the professors. Sounds logical though. They said that they hadn't had weather this great at a open house since three years now, and that last year they had a couple feet of snow. The campus looks a lot nicer with the green grass and the birds chirpin and stuff.

@ tox!c,
seems like u've been waitlisted too!
So what else have you been doing to come off the wait list? I too have been wait listed by Hamilton this year and am hoping against hope to get in.................

and vat69...no offense but your name sounds like something that comes in a green bottle with a black label on it?? doesn't it???

@ tox!c

hehe, all da best for your secret formula!

and yeah, vat69 is the name of a scotch. lolzzzzzzz...........

i really hope hamilton does take some applicants off the waiting list this year. but if there is an over enrollment, we sure will have a difficult time trying to push in.

Hey guys...just letting you know that I got off the waitlist today (got a call from my regional admissions officer letting me know) so there is hope!

^Congrats, we might see each other next year!

heraclitus where are you from that you found out so quickly?? did they say how many people they are taking from the wait list??

I'm from CT, and the admissons officer didn't tell me how many they were going to take off. He basically said that after May 1st they had some idea as to how many kids they were going to have (although not a definitive number), so they were calling a few waitlisted students to gauge their interest in attending. Once I told him that Hamilton was one of my top choices, he congratulated me and told me that I'd been accepted off the waitlist. For the students who got off, you have 10 days to decide if you want to accept their offer or not.

I am from MD and also got off the waitlist yesterday. Same story as heraclitus ... an admissions officer asked me how interested I was in attending Hamilton, so I told him that I would really like to go there. That's when he told me I was off. I didn't get the ten-day policy though -- when I told him I had to talk it over with my parents, he told me to call him on Monday.

well congrats to you both! hopefully they only called a few people they are taking off the wait list yesterday!

did you guys do anything specific during this past month to make yourselves stand out?

I sent a letter to the school expressing that I was still very interested in attending, and hoping to get off the waitlist. I also enclosed a 'Top 10' reasons I would want to go to Hamilton thingy that I wrote. A few weeks later, I sent an email to my regional admissions officer letting him know that my school was having a problem getting 3rd quarter grades out, but that my GC would forward them to Hamilton ASAP.

Congratulations guys for coming off the waiting list.
I am an International student and I too had been wait listed by Hamilton this year. As Hamilton is my first choice school, I too would really like to come off the waiting list. However, I have not heard from them yet. Does that mean that I have already been rejected or are they taking a little more time? Does anybody have any information about this? Please help......................

yeah, i wrote admissions a letter expressing my continued interest in Hamilton and also sent admissions a copy of my school newspaper (I am News and Copy Editor). also, i asked my school's band teacher to write me a recommendation. good luck!

any news guys????????? anything at all?
