No on-campus Business Transfers?

Admissions | Heavener School of Business | Warrington

"The UF Online Business Program admits freshman and transfer students. Due to resource limitations, the Heavener School of Business is not currently able to offer admission to its on-campus majors."

I am confused by this. So if your goal was to transfer to UF and major in some sort of business, you only can do the online route? When will these "resource limitations" be fixed?

Send an e-mail to the business school and ask.

I wonder if this is an effort to push students to the on-line program? Or it simply due to a rash of current freshmen/sophomores selecting business as their major. At UF, freshmen are not locked into a major.

This wouldn’t surprise me. I recently transferred into the college of business this fall and every class I take has at least 700+ students in it. I’m not sure how much more they want to take in. They are also really trying to push online programs as I heard recently that UF is trying to create an entirely online university system but I’m not sure how accurate that is.

I know that that some schools dislike it when on-campus students take online versions of courses that are available to take in-person.

They have found that there is a higher failure rate for on-campus students who take an online version of a course, vs dedicated distance students. The theory is that distance students are used to working in isolation, and getting assignments done early to account for the inevitable communication delays that arise. Distance students can’t run to the professor’s office at the last minute for help, so they build buffers by getting stuff done way ahead of time. On-campus students are less accustomed to this and are more likely to fall behind and fail because they tend to assume that online classes are easier.

It is also true that UF has been tasked by recent legislation to create a number of degrees that can be completed completely online. This was in exchange for additional funding.

So do you think if a student applied for Summer 2014 or Fall 2014 admission, and indicated that their intended major is Business, this will factor negatively in UF Admissions’ consideration of the student?

^^^As a CC transfer student? Yes, they are not currently accepting any transfer students into the Heavener School of Business.

This doesn’t impact any freshmen applications (including freshmen who have earned thier AA degree while in high school).

I’m not sure if that is correct, Gator88NE.

I would just contact the school directly and ask for a clarification.

^^Very true, always get confirmation :)

I just recently came upon the issue as I was filling out the transfer application at UF. If you are majoring in any business related program, there is no selection offered by the college of business. I am going to contact admissions once school is in session.
