No SAT Rush Reports?

Hi, I sent in my SAT score report with rush reporting from Collegeboard mid-December, but I was just informed that UVA doesn't accept rush reports. Does that mean the office never received or aren't considering my rush report?

I did the same exact thing! Dean J said that if they're rushed they're actually sent by mail, since they don't do rushed reports, while regular reports are sent via internet. So I re-sent mine regular. Talk about waste of money!

Call College Board and ask them if rush reports are also included on the electronic transmission. I would guess they are.

BTW, I don't remember Dean J saying that UVa doesn't accept rush reports. I thought she said that it doesn't pay to spend the extra money b/c of the backlog of mail they get this time of year. The electronic version is processed at least as fast if not sooner.

UVa accepts rushed reports. The only thing with rushed vs. regular is that rushed are sent via postal mail while regular scores are sent electronically. Therefore, at this time, it would be better to just send your scores regularly because the time saved by rushing would be elminated by the time it takes for admissions to open that piece of mail.

"Mailed scores are slower than electronically transferred scores.

If "rushed" scores are mailed and "regular" delivery is by electronic transfer, the regularly delivered scores will make it into our system before the rushed ones."

Thats what Dean J said. So I guess rushing is sort of pointless

My GC told me that last year so it was good to hear Dean J say it too. I guess College Board, who makes $9.00 to mail a piece of paper in the name of "rushing it", doesn't want that kind of info getting out.

We used to say we didn't take rushed scores. Maybe that's still in the instructions. If it is, we're leaving it in there.

Keep in mind I said that if rushed scores were mailed, they'd be slower than the traditional electronic transfer. A student came back and said that s/he verified that rush scores are sent electronically. I think someone needs to investigate (and believe it or not, ETS is more responsive to you than to people on my side of the desk) whether rushed scores are sent on earlier electronic transfers.

That's amazing Dean J. The two times I needed to call CB they were less than friendly. It was clear I was being a burden by calling to resolve a problem they created.

Don't feel like you are alone when being abused by the CB. They treat everyone like dirt.

Thanks for the responses. I understand that the rush reporting would be slower, but it would eventually get to the office and be reviewed with my app right?

They would be reviewed IF they get there in time to be added to your application file.
